Utah Mammoth forward Logan Cooley left Saturday's game against the St. Louis Blues with an apparent knee injury.

The incident occurred early in the third period when Blues forward Alexey Toropchenko collided with Cooley with a knee-on-knee hit.

Cooley, 21, remained on the ice for a significant amount of time and needed assistance going to the bench and into the locker room.

Toropchenko was handed a five-minute kneeing major for the hit and a game misconduct.

Cooley skated 11:01 before the injury, recording two shots and left with the Blues leading 1-0.

The 6-foot centre has 14 goals and 23 points in 25 games this season, including five goals and seven points in his previous three games.

Utah entered Saturday's action in fourth place in the Central Division with a 12-10-3 record and were tied with the San Jose Sharks and Edmonton Oilers for the final wild-card position in the Western Conference.

ST. LOUIS (AP) Dylan Holloway scored, Joel Hofer stopped 17 shots for his second shutout of the season and the St. Louis Blues beat the Utah Mammoth 1-0 on Saturday night in the second half of back-to-back games for both teams.

Hofer has four career shutouts, also blanking the Sabres in Buffalo on Nov. 6.

The Mammoth have a seven-game road losing streak and dropped the first two games of a six-game trip. Since starting the season 8-2-0, Utah has sputtered to a 4-9-3 mark.

Utah's Logan Cooley was helped off the ice at 6:17 of the third period. Alexey Toropchenko and the 21-year-old Cooley collided knee to knee just outside the blue line.

Toropchenko was given a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct for kneeing.

Cooley, who is in his third NHL season, has 14 goals through 26 games. He had the NHL's first four-goal game of the season Tuesday night against Vegas.

Karel Vejmelka stopped 18 shots.

Holloway scored with 1:50 left in the second period for a 1-0 lead. Philip Broberg dropped a pass back to Holloway in the left circle and he beat Vejmelka with a wrist shot to the top, right corner.

DALLAS (AP) Wyatt Johnston scored 28 seconds into a two-minute, five-on-three power play late in the second period to lift the Dallas Stars to a 4-3 win over the Utah Mammoth on Friday night.

Roope Hintz matched a career high by scoring in his fourth straight game, and Jamie Benn and Jason Robertson scored 1:02 apart midway through the second period for the Stars, who have won three straight and are 9-1-1 in their last 11 games.

Jake Oettinger made 27 saves for his 11th win, tied for second place in the NHL.

Logan Cooley, Kevin Rooney and Jack McBain scored for the Mammoth, who began a season-long six-game road trip. Vitek Vanecek stopped 24 of 28 shots he faced.

Johnston scored his NHL-best 10th power-play goal after Kevin Stenlund and Ian Cole were both called for tripping during a delayed penalty.

The Mammoth took a 2-0 lead with Cooley scoring 57 seconds into the game and Rooney, called up from Tucson of the AHL on Thursday, adding his first this season midway through the first period.

Hintz pulled Dallas within 2-1 late in the opening period and only 19 seconds into a double-minor penalty on Sean Durzi for high-sticking Jamie Benn, one of the few NHL players who doesn't wear a visor.

Miro Heiskanen, playing his 500th NHL game, and Mikko Rantanen each had two assists for Dallas.

John Marino had two assists for Utah.

Rooney filled in for Barrett Hayton, who missed his first game since early October, with an Illness.

Cooley has scored the Mammoth's three fastest goals this season, the other two at 0:56 and 2:21.

Clayton Keller will play for the Utah Mammoth against the Dallas Stars on Friday (8 p.m. ET; Utah16, Victory+), one day after his father, Bryan, unexpectedly died.

"Clayton wants to play, wants to be with the team," Mammoth coach Andre Tourigny said Friday. "We want to say our condolences to all the family, Clayton, his mom, his brother. It's a tough time for the family. We'll support him by any way we can. ... Clayton will play tonight, but all the organization is with him with all our heart. He's been nothing but an unbelievable teammate and his family is unbelievable. We're all with him."

Keller, a forward who was named captain of the Mammoth prior to last season, has 21 points (eight goals, 13 assists) in 24 games this season.

"There's nothing really you can say or do in that moment but be there," Tourigny said. "Big thing for us is to be there and support him. Loyalty is when people need you to be there, it's not when you pick and choose. In this tough time, we want to make sure we show up for [Keller] and his family."

Keller had NHL career highs in assists (60) and points (90) in 81 games last season. The No. 7 pick by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2016 NHL Draft, Keller has 529 points (204 goals, 325 assists) in 625 regular-season games with the Mammoth and Arizona Coyotes and seven points (four goals, three assists) in nine Stanley Cup Playoff games.

"Put our heart out there, do everything we can to show our love to him and his family," Tourigny said. "I think that's what a team is, what a family is. You need to be there for each other, so we'll be there for him."

The Mammoth (12-9-3) enter Friday fourth in the Central Division.

{coyotes} Report: Three Canadian teams among NHL's top five most valuable

The Edmonton Oilers' back-to-back runs to the Stanley Cup Final have had a positive effect on their overall valuation, according to a new report.

According to figures published by CNBC on Tuesday, the Oilers are now valued at $3.1 billion, an increase of 17 per cent from 2024.

That increase has vaulted the Oilers into the top five among all NHL franchises, moving them ahead of the Boston Bruins ($3.05 billion).

The top four teams remain unchanged, with the Toronto Maple Leafs leading the way at $4.3 billion. Rogers Communications, which owns Sportsnet, became the majority owner of Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment earlier this year.

The New York Rangers are second on CNBC's rankings with a valuation of $3.8 billion, followed by the Montreal Canadiens ($3.4 billion) and Los Angeles Kings ($3.15 billion).

Speaking on CNBC after the report was published, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman cautioned that the numbers are "undervalued" and "as much art as it is science."

But Bettman added that "the trending is very positive."

Bettman went on to say that NHL teams have more cost certainty than teams in other sports because the hard salary-cap system helps teams have more predictable payrolls and stay in the playoff hunt for more of the season. Entering play Wednesday, 11 teams not in a playoff spot were within four points of the final wild-card position in their conference.

"What you see on the ice, the competitive balance, the entertainment value, is extraordinary, and that's because we have a system that enables all of our teams to compete," Bettman said.

The CNBC panel also pressed Bettman on expansion. While the commissioner wouldn't tip his hand to any markets the league might consider expanding to, he said that any expansion fee for a new club would be no less than $2 billion.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Logan Cooley scored four straight goals and had an assist and the Utah Mammoth beat the Vegas Golden Knights 5-1 on Monday night to avenge a home loss four days earlier.

Cooley gave Utah a 3-1 lead on a breakaway at 4:19 of the third period, and completed his second hat trick of the season into an empty net with 4:19 left. He added a short-handed empty-netter with 2:17 to go for his career-high fourth of the night and 13th of the season.

The 21-year-old Cooley had the first four-goal game in the NHL this season. He had another natural hat trick in the first period in a 7-4 victory at St. Louis on Oct. 24. He has three career NHL hat tricks.

The teams also played Thursday night at Delta Center, with Vegas winning 4-1. Utah rebounded Saturday night, topping the New York Rangers 3-2 at home to end a four-game skid. Vegas fell 4-3 in overtime at Anaheim on Saturday night.

Dylan Guenther had a goal and an assist for Utah, and Karel Vejmelka stopped 33 shots. Ivan Barbashev scored for Vegas, and Carl Lindbom made 20 saves.

Guenther and Cooley scored in a 1:17 span in the first period. Guenther got his ninth of the season with 5:06 left off assists from Cooley and defenseman Nate Schmidt. Cooley connected with 3:49 remaining, with Guenther and Schmidt getting assists.

Barbashev scored for Vegas at 5:24 of the second.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) Macklin Celebrini scored a power-play goal in overtime to complete his second hat trick of the season and the San Jose Sharks overcame a blown third-period lead to beat the Utah Mammoth 3-2 on Tuesday night.

Celebrini scored twice in the first six minutes of the game and capped it when he beat Vitek Vanacek with 2:09 left in overtime after Utah had been called for too many men on the ice.

That gave the 19-year-old Celebrini 30 points this season, joining Wayne Gretzky and Sidney Crosby as the only teenagers ever to do that in the first 20 games of a season.

JJ Peterka scored twice in the third period to force overtime and earn Utah a point. He got the tying goal with 2:51 to play when his shot on the rush snuck past Yaroslav Askarov for a rare soft goal allowed by the San Jose netminder this month.

The Mammoth have lost their last three games in overtime and have one win in their last seven games.

Askarov made 24 saves for San Jose.

Vanacek made 19 saves.

Celebrini got the Sharks off to a fast start when he finished a nifty passing sequence with Will Smith and Philipp Kurashev with a wrist shot from the left circle just 1:47 into the game.

He struck again about four minutes later when he beat Vanacek on a breakaway for his 12th goal of the season.

Celebrini's 30 points and 13 goals are the most by a Sharks player in the first 20 games of a season.

New York tied it 2-2 with 6:16 remaining when the puck went off Jonathon Drouin's skate and was touched by Utah defenseman Nate Schmidt's stick as it passed over the goal line. The goal was initially disallowed but reversed after video review.

Heineman opened the scoring 7:13 into the first period - the second straight contest he notched the first goal of the game.

Peterka tied it with just under 7 minutes remaining in the first with his sixth of the season.

The Mammoth ended their seven-game power-play goal drought when Guenther's slap shot went over Rittich's shoulder during a 5-on-3 with 1:25 left in the opening period to take a 2-1 lead. That marked the first time this season the Islanders gave up a goal with a two-man disadvantage.

The Islanders beat Las Vegas in overtime Thursday and was in the second half or a back-to-back but matched the Mammoth's energy with rugged defense and deft power-play kills, squelching five of six opportunities.

Islanders: At Colorado on Sunday for the fifth game of their road trip.

Nick DeSimone, Nick Schmaltz and Clayton Keller also scored for Utah, and Karel Vejmelka finished with 17 saves. The Mammoth snapped a three-game skid and got their second win in seven games.

Isak Rosen scored twice for Buffalo, and Colten Ellis stopped 32 shots. The Sabres lost their fourth straight and seventh in eight games (1-3-4).

Peterka tied the score 2-2 at 52 seconds of the third period, skating with the puck into the left circle and firing a shot past Ellis.

Crouse then put the Mammoth ahead at 3:22 as he got a pass from Peterka and scored from a sharp angle in front of the goal line up off the crossbar and in.

Schmaltz scored from the slot off Clayton Keller's pass from behind the goal line with 9:51 left in the third to push Utah's lead to 4-2 with his 10th of the season.

Keller added an empty-netter with 27 seconds remaining to cap the scoring.

Rosen gave the Sabres a 1-0 lead 5:33 into the game. Jack Quinn's pass for Rosen went through defenseman DeSimone's skates and off Rosen's right skate and in.

Rosen doubled the lead at 6:42 of the second with a one-timer from the right circle off a cross-ice pass from Noah Ostlund for his second of the night and third of the season.

DeSimone got the Mammoth on the scoreboard with 9:18 remaining in the middle period. Michael Carcone's pass for Crouse went off the side boards into the right circle and DeSimone skated up and fired the puck past Ellis. for his first of the season and fourth in 60 career games.

Sabres: At Colorado on Thursday night for the third of a four-game trip.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) Clayton Keller scored 47 seconds into overtime to lift the Utah Mammoth to a 2-1 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night.

Keller wheeled through the Sabres zone and drove to the net where he slipped a shot past Alex Lyon that helped the Mammoth snap a two-game losing skid.

Nick Schmaltz also scored, and Karel Vejmelka made 17 saves for Utah and added an assist on the winning goal.

Noah Ostlund scored and Lyon made 33 saves for Buffalo. The Sabres have one win in their last five games, which each went to overtime or shootout, and have points in seven straight.

Schmaltz's goal at 3:58 of the third period opened the scoring. His wrist shot from right circle got through Lyon for his eighth goal of the season.

Ostlund's first NHL goal tied the game at 7:50 of the third when he batted home a puck that caromed off the glass and was knocked out of the air to the front of the net by Isak Rosen.

This was the first matchup between the two teams since the June 26 trade that sent winger JJ Peterka to Utah for forward Josh Doan and defenseman Michael Kesselring. Peterka, who spent three-plus seasons with Buffalo and would not re-sign with the team, was booed each time he touched the puck.

Sabres: Conclude a three-game home stand against St. Louis on Thursday.

Mammoth: Continue a four-game road trip in Toronto on Wednesday.
