CANUCKS (28-25-10) at COYOTES (27-23-11)

TV: SNET-P, FS-A PLUS

Last 10: Vancouver 1-8-1; Phoenix 3-5-2

Season series: The Vancouver Canucks and Phoenix Coyotes face each other for the fifth and final time this season. The teams have split the first four games; Vancouver's wins came in overtime, the most-recent a 5-4 victory on Jan. 26.

Big story: The Canucks and Coyotes are battling for a playoff spot, but each are on the outside looking in. Vancouver has lost nine of its past 10 games, the latest a 4-2 decision to the Ottawa Senators at the 2014 Tim Hortons Heritage Classic at BC Place on Sunday.

"Obviously, this one stings," Canucks forward Zach Kassian said. "The thing is we play Tuesday and we need a W. We need to move forward."

The Coyotes also fell Sunday, 4-2 to the St. Louis Blues, and missed an opportunity to jump over three teams, including the Canucks, for the final wild-card spot in the Western Conference.

Team Scope:

Canucks: Vancouver got off to a fast start Sunday by grabbing a 2-0 lead before surrendering four unanswered goals. The loss left the Canucks 1-8-1 in their past 10, but coach John Tortorella is keeping the faith.

"We need to keep believing as an organization," Tortorella said. "I'm not down. Sure you'd like to win a game and maybe get the five out of six [points on the homestand] before you go on the road, but it changes quickly. We're still in the middle of it."

Coyotes: Phoenix has picked the wrong time to go winless in its past four games. Like their opponents from Vancouver, the Coyotes also blew a 2-0 lead by giving up four unanswered goals in their loss to the Blues. Phoenix was even with the Colorado Avalanche this past Friday, but blew that one too, giving up two goals in 5:24 of an eventual 4-2 loss.

The Coyotes got in some video work Monday as part of off-ice workouts, highlighting what they can do better.

"It's obviously frustrating," goalie Mike Smith said. "We feel like we've done a lot of good things as of late and haven't gotten rewarded for it. We're in the trenches, though. We're still right there.

"This is the time of the season when you gotta elevate your play. If you want to be a playoff team sooner or later, you have to find ways to win these games. We're searching for it right now."

Who's hot: Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson has five points (three goals, two assists) in his past five games. Center Jason Spezza is 1-6-7 in his past five.

Injury report: Canucks forward Daniel Sedin (leg) was scheduled to have an MRI on Monday. He reportedly is expected to be sidelined for three weeks. Forward Mike Santorelli (right shoulder surgery) and defensemen Yannick Weber (upper body) and Andrew Alberts (concussion) are on injured reserve … Coyotes center Martin Hanzal (lower body) is questionable for Tuesday, according to coach Dave Tippett.

{coyotes} Miller gets first win with Blues

CheapOair.com

Work Bitch - Single - Britney Spears

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Even down 2-0 after two periods and with his new team in the midst of their worst scoring drought of the season, new St. Louis Blues goaltender Ryan Miller knew he was in a very confident dressing room. The chance to win his debut was still there.

Twenty minutes later, the Blues had overcome their post-Olympic blahs and won going away.

Patrik Berglund scored twice and Magnus Paajarvi and Kevin Shattenkirk added goals in the third period to give Miller (23 saves) and the Blues a 4-2 victory against the Phoenix Coyotes at Jobing.com Arena on Sunday.

"They are a confident group, you can see it in the way they interact and talk," said Miller, acquired Friday along with Steve Ott from the Buffalo Sabres. "The locker room is a lot of fun and the guys have a lot of faith in each other. Not a lot of shots came my way after they got a little more puck control. They made the adjustments we needed and went from there."

Miller improved to 7-0-0 against the Coyotes. He has beaten Phoenix three times this season, twice with Buffalo.

Shattenkirk set up Paajarvi's game-tying goal at 7:39 of the third period and added the eventual game-winner 5:07 later on the power play.

"The last few games, we've had a ton of great chances and haven't been able to capitalize," Shattenkirk said. "Tonight, we get down 2-0, but we did a great job of trusting our game plan and once the first one got in it was a huge sigh of relief on the bench. We have a day off and we all said, 'Let's put it all in here in the last 20 minutes and see what happens.'"

The Blues were in danger of being shut out in three straight games for the first time in the 46-year history of the franchise, trailing 2-0 after two periods and being outplayed by the more-engaged Coyotes.

Grinders Paul Bissonnette and Jeff Halpern, who had combined for three goals in 80 combined games this season, each scored a goal and Phoenix goalie Mike Smith stopped all 18 shots he faced in the first two periods.

The Coyotes could have jumped into the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference with a win, but instead lost their third straight game coming out of the Olympic break (0-2-1) and remained in 11th place. But in a familiar theme, another third-period lead and opportunity to collect points evaporated in a hurry.

"We played so well for 40 [minutes]. We were dominant, doing all the right things," Bissonnette said. "We just got away from it and it's kind of been the story for the last few months here. We just had to keep making predictable plays and stay on the right side of the puck. As boring as the game is when you play like that, it's just the way it works for us."

The Blues came out roaring in the third period and took control. Forward Alexander Steen rang a shot off the post in the first minute and it wasn't long after before St. Louis finally broke the spell.

Forward Vladimir Tarasenko foiled a Phoenix clearing attempt and got the puck to Jaden Schwartz in the right circle. Smith saved Schwartz's shot, but he corralled the rebound and fed Berglund, who was wide open at the left post to break the spell at 3:18.

The goal was the first for St. Louis in 187 minutes and 44 games, dating back to a Feb. 8 shootout win against the Winnipeg Jets. The Blues were shut out Wednesday by the Vancouver Canucks and Friday by the Anaheim Ducks after going the first 57 games of the season without being blanked.

"Everyone on the bench could see Bergie's goal coming, that we had a 2-on-1 at the net," St. Louis coach Ken Hitchcock said. "When it went in, everyone took right off from there. The first two games on this trip, playing really well and not scoring was stressful, and then the first goal just opened everything."

Then 4:21 later, Shattenkirk kept a clearing attempt in along the boards at the blue line and flipped a pass to Paajarvi, who curled and put a wrist shot by Smith to tie the game with his seventh goal.

It stayed that way until Halpern was called for tripping – a few minutes before he complained that he was interfered with, but no penalty was called – and the Blues capitalized on the power play. Shattenkirk put a wrist shot through traffic and past Smith at 12:46 and St. Louis had its first lead.

Berglund added insurance with 1:39 left, going in alone to beat Smith and nail down the win. The Coyotes felt Phoenix defenseman Keith Yandle was tripped up in the St. Louis zone, giving Berglund a free path to the net.

"It [stinks] when there are there factors involved besides the two teams competing," Bissonnette said. "I won't go much more into that, but it's upsetting and frustrating."

Phoenix's fourth line shined in the first two periods. Bissonnette took a Michael Stone feed and unleashed a shot that hit the stick of Shattenkirk, the upturned skate blade of a prone Barrett Jackman and the shoulder of Miller before settling in the back of the net at 2:56.

Bissonnette's second goal of the season was his seventh in 197 NHL games. It wasn't the start to his St. Louis career Miller was hoping for.

"Things like that happen and it slipped through," Miller said. "You just have to go from there and keep working."

Phoenix doubled its lead at 7:09 of the second period with another hard-working goal. Yandle ran down a loose puck at the side boards and whirled a sweeping pass to the crease, where Halpern was all alone for the tip-in. Halpern's third goal of the season was his 150th in his NHL career.

Hi Simon.Hope the holiday went well, just a quick request for the F100 "hulk" which you mentioned in your post. Thanks again

Very long shot I know. Another was complete and in bare metal, the other 2 were "olive drab" and fuselages only. By the hangars was an a complete dark blue, but unmarked  F100 which I was informed was N2011M.In a hangar was a blue F104 along with an all white F104, in the same hangar was an all red MIG15 /LIM2, not N41125 as this was also seen.Any help ID.ing any of these much appreciated.

BLUES (39-14-6) at COYOTES (27-22-11)

TV: FS-MW, FS-A PLUS

Last 10: St. Louis 6-3-1; Phoenix 4-4-2

Season series: This is the third and final game this season and the first at Jobing.com Arena. The St. Louis Blues and Phoenix Coyotes split the first two, with T.J. Oshie scoring twice to lead St. Louis past Phoenix, 2-1, in the most-recent encounter on Jan. 14. St. Louis has won three straight in the desert.

Big story: Goaltender Ryan Miller will make his Blues debut on Sunday.

On Friday, the Buffalo Sabres dealt their longtime franchise player, along with Sabres captain Steve Ott, to St. Louis in exchange for goalie Jaroslav Halak, forward Chris Stewart, a prospect and draft picks.

"I'm very excited for the opportunity to have a new adventure, a new opportunity," Miller told reporters Friday. "I have a strong sense that they have a special team, that they work hard. I know some of the guys on the team with the USA [Olympic] program, and they have a very strong competitive spirit."

St. Louis captain David Backes, who played with Miller in the past two Winter Olympics, talked raved about the organization's winning mentality.

"The management and ownership is really committed to winning, and winning now, and that's partly shown in the move we've made," Backes said. "Ryan Miller is an all-world goalie that has shown it time and time again."

Team Scope:

Blues: Miller should bolster the NHL's third-best defensive unit (2.27 goals-allowed per game) and Blues management no doubt hopes he can help St. Louis over the postseason hump. On Sunday, though, the Blues will be focused on avoiding their first three-game losing streak of the season. The Blues have not scored since NHL play resumed, dropping back-to-back 1-0 contests to Western rivals Vancouver Canucks and Anaheim Ducks.

"We've just got to put a couple in the net and we'll get going," defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk said.

The Blues' recent inefficiency lies in contrast to their Olympic lead-up, in which St. Louis went 6-1-1 and scored three or more goals six times over that stretch.

Coyotes: Phoenix has lost three straight games, all away from Jobing.com Arena, to drop into a crowded group vying for the final Western playoff spots. The eighth through 11th-placed teams – the Dallas Stars, Canucks, Coyotes and Winnipeg Jets – are separated by two points, and Phoenix is a point behind Vancouver for fourth place in the competitive Pacific Division.

In their most-recent outing Friday, Phoenix fell 4-2 to the Colorado Avalanche. The Coyotes outshot the Avalanche 42-33, including 19 shots in the third period, but were unable to close the gap.

"We're in the winning business and when you don't win you have to find ways to win," coach Dave Tippett told reporters after the game. "That's where we're at right now."

Who's hot: Miller is 6-0-0 with a 1.15 goals-against average in his career against the Coyotes. … Shane Doan scored twice Friday in Colorado and has 48 points (21 goals, 27 assists) in 69 career games versus St. Louis.

Injury report: For the Blues, defenseman Jordan Leopold (ankle) and Vladimir Sobotka (knee) are day-to-day. … Phoenix is boasting a healthy lineup.
