{coyotes} Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly statement regarding cancellation of 2012-13 schedule through Nov. 30

NEW YORK – NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly today issued the following statement regarding cancellation of the 2012-13 NHL regular-season schedule through Nov. 30:

"The National Hockey League deeply regrets having to take this action. By presenting a proposal to the NHLPA that contemplated a fair division of revenues and was responsive to Player concerns regarding the value of their contracts, we had hoped to be able to forge a long-term Collective Bargaining Agreement that would have preserved an 82-game Regular Season for our fans. Unfortunately, that did not occur.

"We acknowledge and accept that there is joint responsibility in collective bargaining and, though we are profoundly disappointed that a new agreement has not been attained to this point, we remain committed to achieving an agreement that is fair for the Players and the Clubs -- one that will be good for the game and our fans."

{coyotes} NHLPA statement from Executive Director Don Fehr

TORONTO – Don Fehr, National Hockey League Players' Association Executive Director, released the following statement regarding the NHL's decision to withdraw its October 16, 2012 proposal and cancel further regular season games:

"The league officially informed us today that they have withdrawn their latest proposal and have cancelled another slate of regular season games. This is deeply disappointing for all hockey fans and everyone who makes their living from hockey, including the players. But it comes as no surprise.

Last week the owners gave us what amounts to a "take-it-or-leave-it" proposal. We responded with the framework for three proposals on the players' share, each of which moved significantly, towards their stated desire for a 50-50 split of HRR, with the only condition being that they honour contracts they have already signed. Honouring contracts signed between owners and players is a reasonable request. Unfortunately, after considering them for only 10 minutes they rejected all of our proposals.

Since then, we have repeatedly advised the owners that the players are prepared to sit down and negotiate on any day, with no pre-conditions. The owners refused. They apparently are only interested in meeting if we first agree to everything in their last offer, except for perhaps a few minor tweaks and discussion of their "make whole" provision.

The message from the owners seems to be: if you don't give us exactly what we want, there is no point in talking. They have shown they are very good at delivering deadlines and demands, but we need a willing partner to negotiate. We hope they return to the table in order to get the players back on the ice soon."

NEW YORK – The National Hockey League announced today the cancellation of the 2012-13 regular-season schedule through November 30 because of the absence of a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the NHL Players' Association and the NHL.

A total of 326 regular-season games – 26.5 percent of the season -- were scheduled for Oct. 11 through Nov. 30.

{coyotes} NHL TO ANNOUNCE CANCELLATION OF GAMES THROUGH NOV. 30

Less than a day after withdrawing their latest CBA proposal to the NHL Players' Association, the National Hockey League is set to announce the cancellation of November's remaining games.

The league cancelled regular season games from Oct. 25 through Nov. 1 last week and Friday's announcement will scratch a total of 326 games from the 2012-13 season.

The NHL stuck to its most recent proposal that stated a full 82-game schedule could be played if the season began by Nov. 2. The league said the deal had to be reached by Thursday for that to happen, but never did.

The union rejected the NHL's proposal that offered a 50-50 split of hockey-related revenues and ensured a full regular-season schedule. The Players' Association countered with three offers that were, in turn, quickly dismissed by the league.

{coyotes} U.S. PRESIDENT OBAMA URGES NHL AND NHLPA TO END LOCKOUT

Sierra Club Sierra Club Sierra Club Sierra Club Sierra Club

LOS ANGELES -- Barack Obama is urging the NHL and its players to resolve their labour dispute.

During an appearance on "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno on Wednesday, the U.S. president took time to answer questions submitted from viewers and the studio audience.

One fan from Los Angeles asked Obama if he could pull any strings to end the NHL's work stoppage.

"You know, I do have a comment on this," said Obama, who is campaigning for re-election. "Every time these things happen I just want to remind the owners and players: You guys make money because you've got a whole bunch of fans out there who are working really hard -- they buy tickets, they're watching on TV.

"You all should be able to figure this out. Get this done. The fans deserve it."

It's not the first time Obama has weighed in on a sports labour dispute.

The president sent a tweet a month ago urging the NFL and its officials to end their lockout.

"NFL fans on both sides of the aisle hope the refs' lockout is settled soon," he tweeted after a mistake by a replacement official decided the outcome of a game between Seattle and Green Bay.

The lockout ended a few days later.

The NHL lockout has lasted 40 days. All regular-season games through Nov. 1 have been wiped off the schedule, with more cancellations expected to come before the end of the week.

All was quiet between the two sides Thursday, the final day before an NHL-imposed deadline to make a deal with the NHL Players' Association and preserve a full hockey season.

A partial season remains a possibility. No new talks are scheduled.

The U.S. presidential election is Nov. 6.

{coyotes} All quiet as deadline for full NHL season nears

Spencer's Gifts

NEW YORK (AP) -- With only hours remaining before an NHL-imposed deadline to make a deal with the players' association and preserve a full hockey season, all was quiet between the sides.

By Thursday afternoon, the sides were still not in contact.

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman already painted a pessimistic picture on Wednesday, saying it was unlikely that a new collective bargaining agreement would be reached by Thursday that would allow the NHL to play a condensed 82-game schedule starting on Nov. 2.

In making its most recent offer to the players, the NHL presented a proposal that included a 50-50 split of hockey-related revenues. But that was contingent on the sides making a deal by Thursday and getting the season under way following a week of training camp.

Talks broke down last week, and the NHL turned down the union's offer to return to the table this week with no preconditions.

[cactuswings 1990] Re: Storage News

Hello Dave,

This might be an odd question/request. Any possibility to get 2 to 4 Boeing 737 Scratch lens? This is an interior transparency that covers the actual passenger cabin windows.

Is this something you could help me with? Or do you have a source you could refer me to?

Thanks as always,

Han
