Re: [cactuswings 2971] Re: Quartszite Roadrunner

Alan/All,

Further to my last email I've done a bit of digging and have been told N65WH departed Perris in April 2012 just a couple of months after I took the photo but to where was unknown so I'm pretty sure you're right and this is indeed the one that was at Perris.

Alan,

When I took that photo at Perris it had no wings, engines and the top of tail was missing. I've not been out to Perris for a while but if it's the same one it's had some parts put back on. It does look a good match though!

Re: [cactuswings 2969] Marana Airport Based Military helicopters

It'll be a bit of a slog, but you could work your way through searching the Scramble databases for aircraft serials at http://www.scramble.nl/index.php?option=com_mildb&view=search&Itemid=60&af=usar
e.g. typing 1-285 into the 'Unit' field for a starter
You would then have to fill in the type field to narrow results down as you will run up against the site limits of, I think, 50 answers per query

Were there no Lakotas?

Re: [cactuswings 2965] Yards around DM

Gentlemen.

I have not seen many reports for a long time, and I have not been there since 2010.

The Namar website under Martyn Swann should have the most information.

Could be in Tucson in 3 weeks time, and look forward to hearing of any reports, and I will share any info with this site.

Regards

It is an excellent book I agree, but you can't use it for what is there now, since it contains a large amount of historical sightings. Go to the yard, take photos and it will help you to work out what you saw possibly, since many items are very slow moving, but others, especially HVF West may move a lot faster. HVF seem to specialise in the 'shredding' of non-saleable types. eLaReF

Hi

Andy Marden has an excellent boob "USA Military Out of Service 2013/14", on Mach III Publishing, and costs only £19.95, a must for anyone visiting the states.
