ANAHEIM -- Rickard Rakell scored with 3:30 remaining in the third period, and the Anaheim Ducks rallied from three goals down to defeat the Arizona Coyotes in Rick Tocchet's debut 5-4 at Honda Center on Thursday.
Andrew Cogliano assisted on the game-winner and scored the tying goal at 13:45 of the third.
Corey Perry had two goals and an assist, and Rakell and Cogliano each had a goal and two assists for the Ducks, who improved to 2-9-0 in their past 11 season openers.
John Gibson had 26 saves for the Ducks, including five while shutting out the Coyotes in the third period.
Alex Goligoski matched his NHL career high with three assists, Max Domi had a goal and an assist, Clayton Keller scored his first NHL goal and Christian Fischer scored his fourth in his eighth NHL games for the Coyotes.
Domi and Fischer each scored a power-play goal in the second period to help the Coyotes take a 4-1 lead.
Perry redirected a centering pass from Rakell to make it 4-2 at 15:23, and Ondrej Kase beat Arizona goalie Louis Domingue at 15:54 to pull Anaheim within 4-3.
The Coyotes took a 1-0 lead at 4:44 of the first period on a goal by Anthony Duclair.
Arizona made it 2-0 at 8:32 when Goligoski took a shot that hit the stick of Ducks defenseman Josh Manson. Keller took possession, spun and scored.
The Ducks scored 44 seconds later when Rakell stopped a clearing pass and spotted Perry free on the opposite side. Perry took his time before beating Domingue with a quick wrist shot to make it 2-1. Domingue had 36 saves.
Anaheim played without its two leading point scorers from last season. Ryan Getzlaf missed the game with a lower-body injury and Ryan Kesler is still recovering from offseason hip surgery.
