{coyotes} Coyotes, G Raanta reach 3-year extension

The Arizona Coyotes have reached a three-year extension worth $12.75 million with goaltender Antti Raanta, according to TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie. The deal carries a cap hit of $4.25 million per season.

In 46 games this season, Raanta has a GAA of 2.24 and a save percentage of .930. He was slated to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1 and carried a cap hit of $1 million for this season.

Since the start of 2018, Raanta is first in the NHL in save percentage (.942) and GAA (1.83). He was acquired along with Derek Stepan by the Coyotes in a draft day trade with the New York Rangers that saw Anthony DeAngelo and the No. 7 pick head back to New York.

According to the Arizona Sports 97.8 FM, talks on an extension picked up following the trade deadline.

Since beginning the season at 0-10-1 through the first 11 games, the Coyotes have gone 29-30-10, including victories in four of their last five games.

The Coyotes will be back in action Saturday as they host the Anaheim Ducks.
