{coyotes} Stepan out 4-6 weeks for Coyotes with lower-body injury

Derek Stepan will be out 4-6 weeks for the Arizona Coyotes because of a lower-body injury.

Stepan left a 5-2 win against the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday at 2:31 of the third period following a collision along the boards with Canucks defenseman Troy Stecher.

The 28-year-old forward is fourth on the Coyotes with 32 points (13 goals, 19 assists) in 64 games. He has 448 points (155 goals, 293 assists) in 661 NHL games with the Coyotes and New York Rangers, who selected him in the second round (No. 51) of the 2008 NHL Draft. This is his second season with the Coyotes, who acquired him from the Rangers in a trade June 23, 2017.

Arizona (31-28-5) has won five straight games and is one point behind the Minnesota Wild for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference. The Coyotes' next game is against the Detroit Red Wings at Gila River Arena on Saturday (8 p.m. ET; FS-A PLUS, FS-D+, NHL.TV).
