I took a quick trip around the region yesterday - here's a summary.

Departure was held up because the cabin crew's inbound flight arrived at approximately our departure time. Great. That was good for a ~30 minute delay. Other than that it was really nice to take my first flight in about four months. There wasn't much of note though I saw five (!) United 737s on their postage-sized maintenance ramp as we taxied out. Plus there were 747Fs from Korean Air and China Airlines

I drove through the countryside to reach the most unlikely interesting facility that I know. The hangar's parking lot was full - Empire's busy - though there was a side lot near the F-27 being used by a motorcycle school. And, indicative of who's visiting Coeur d'Alene, there was a new FBO hangar being completed, already with some visiting metal parked in front. Poppy Boyington Field had some nice bizjets today including a GV, but that's not my cup of espresso.

A very very very long freight train frustrated my first attempt to get to Spokane's other airfield. I found a way around eventually to a very quiet Felts Field. The restaurant had just closed unfortunately. I didn't know that the Historical Flight Foundation had an office here.

I had the privilege of making a stunning drive across Eastern Washington's Palouse, framed by blue skies, lovely rolling hills, and amber waves of grain. Absolutely lovely. This made way for Dry Falls, an amazing and little known canyon which, along with the shimmering lakes nearby, made for more spectacular scenery. All of that was a prelude for reaching Ephrata's airport at which there was...nothing. Well, a Catalina, but I don't pursue those. The airfield was very well kept but on this Saturday afternoon it was a big donut.

Persevering south, I arrived at Moses Lake for the first time in about three years and only after more time in the lovely farmland of Eastern Washington. The place was much as I remembered it, with some well-known new residents. My full non-MAX log follows.

...plus 66 MAXs that I noted (missing from my log were white aircraft, aircraft with "N" test registrations, Chinese - and few other - aircraft with no registrations, aircraft at odd angles, and aircraft at the Boeing facility where I didn't linger given their visible security operation). There were neither MRJ SpaceJets nor VIP 787 conversions in the out in the open. There was the resident 727-100F which I didn't take the time to track down. I looked quickly for the Convair(?) in a field near the 727 which I remembered from previous visits...but perhaps it's now gone. There was still a 757(?) fuselage section not far from the 727-100. Oh, and there might have been one or two more Deltas; these were all parked so as to suggest that ATS Greenpoint was providing on-going maintenance.
