Phil Kessel will not participate in Coyotes training camp and will be out for the start of the NHL season because of a foot injury.
The forward was in a walking boot at training camp Wednesday.
"Phil Kessel had a foot injury during training two to three weeks ago," Coyotes coach Andre Tourigny said. "I'm not too sure about the timing but (he will be out) at least two weeks (of the season).
The Coyotes begin the regular season at the Columbus Blue Jackets on Oct. 14. If Kessel is out for two weeks, he would miss at least the first six games of the season.
