DALLAS (AP) Radek Faksa had a rare two-goal game while the Western Conference-leading Dallas Stars got yet another 4-0 win.

Faksa had his first two-goal game in more than three years, captain Jamie Benn and rookie Wyatt Johnston each scored and the Stars beat the hapless Arizona Coyotes on Saturday night - by the same 4-0 score the Stars won at playoff contenders Vegas and Los Angeles in their just-completed trip out West.

Faksa scored both of his goals on rebounds in the first period, when the Stars went ahead 3-0, and rookie Wyatt Johnston scored his 12th goal in the second period. It was first multipoint game this season for Faksa, who had last scored two goals on Nov. 15, 2019.

''The start was the biggest factor in the game,'' said Faksa, who has three goals in three games after none the previous 25 games. ''Sometimes it just comes to you. But lots of games, I try to pound the net more, read the rebound.''

Jake Oettinger had 33 saves in his fourth shutout this season, his second this week coming two nights after Scott Wedgewood had one against the Kings. Oettinger had a sprawling stop midway through the second period, rejecting the puck with his fully extended right skate on Michael Carcone's breakaway shot soon after Arizona failed to convert on two power-play attempts.

''The guys played to the last minute,'' Oettinger said. ''We're up 4-0 and guys are blocking shots and doing things the right way, just finish it for us. So they know it means a lot to us.''

Arizona lost for the 10th time in 11 games. That stretch, in which the only win was in a shootout against Detroit on Tuesday night, began New Year's Eve in a loss at Tampa Bay. It was the Coyotes' second consecutive shutout loss, and third this season - all this month.

The earlier shutout victories for the Stars sandwiched a 5-3 loss at struggling San Jose in which they blew a 3-0 lead. That three-game, four-night trip came after Dallas lost at home to Calgary last weekend following back-to-back games in New York.

''We were a different team energy-wise than we were last time,'' Stars coach Pete DeBoer said. ''We got burned in the Calgary game, and I think we've got a smart team and they knew we had to have a good start tonight. I think that was the the emphasis, and we did that.''

Faksa opened the scoring when he knocked in the rebound of Denis Gurianov's shot only 2 1/2 minutes into the game, and the Stars led 2-0 just more than two minutes later when Benn scored after getting the puck from Jason Robertson late in a power play.

''We knew how they would attack us, but they had success,'' Arizona coach Andre Tourigny said. ''Took a little bit of time for us to get our legs under us ... After the first 10 minutes, it was too little too late.''

NOTES: Arizona goalie Connor Ingram faced 39 shots. ... Dallas played the first of eight consecutive home games, half of those coming in a seven-day span before getting the week off leading to the NHL All-Star game on Feb. 4. ... Seattle's Matty Beniers (17) is the only NHL rookie with more goals than the 19-year-old Johnston. ... Robertson's team-leading 33rd assist for this season was the 100th of his career. ... Benn has points in five consecutive games (three goals, two assists). ... Stars center Roope Hintz took part in the morning skate, but missed his seventh game in a row since sustaining an upper-body injury Jan. 8.

{coyotes} Ex-Coyotes Strome, Kuemper lead Capitals past Arizona 4-0

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) Darcy Kuemper stopped 27 shots and Dylan Strome scored twice to lead the Washington Capitals over the Arizona Coyotes 4-0 Thursday night.

Sonny Milano and Tom Wilson each had a goal for the Capitals, who have won nine of their last 10 road games.

Arizona has dropped 10 of 11 overall. The Coyotes halted a nine-game losing streak by beating Detroit on Tuesday.

Kuemper, who played for the Coyotes from 2017-21, improved to 6-1-3 against his former team.

''I really enjoyed my time here and I like coming back,'' Kuemper said. ''A lot of good memories.''

Strome, also a former Coyotes player, opened the scoring 3:10 in by beating Karel Vejmelka from close range. Dmitry Orlov and Nick Jensen assisted on the goal.

''We had a tough loss last game so it's nice to come on the road and win, and against your old team it's a little bit of a bonus,'' Strome said.

After the early goal, it was a long wait until Milano scored on a feed from Wilson at 17:32 of the second period. Shortly after that, Arizona's Nick Bjugstad was penalized for tripping and Washington made the Coyotes pay.

Wilson was credited with the goal, originally given to Orlov. Evgeny Kuznetsov also assisted at 18:41.

Strome, just out of the penalty box, made it 4-0 with assists from Kuznetsov and Orlov at 8:41 of the third as the Capitals won the opener of a three-game swing out West that includes visits to Vegas and Colorado.

''You've got to respect them, they're working hard,'' Washington coach Peter Laviolette said of the Coyotes. ''The start of a trip, it's always important to get off on the right foot.''

Vejmelka stopped 29 shots.

''We played a good team. They didn't give us a lot of room,'' Coyotes coach Andre Tourigny said. ''Give a lot of credit to them.

''We need to find a way. There's not a lack of desire, but for whatever reason we're not as emotionally intense.''

Arizona won the previous meeting this season, 3-2 on Nov. 5 in Washington.

OVERTURNED

Each team successfully challenged a goal.

Lars Eller appeared to score for the Capitals just after a hooking penalty to the Coyotes' Michael Carcone expired, but Arizona challenged the play and Eller was ruled to have interfered with the goaltender.

During a power play to open the third period, a shot from Shayne Gostisbehere beat Kuemper, but Washington got a reversal because Arizona was ruled offside before the goal.

''We got into some penalties (in the third period). They've got a good power-play unit, but we did a good job and kept them at bay,'' Kuemper said.

SIDELINED

Arizona's Lawson Crouse, the team's top scorer with 16 goals, sat out with an upper-body injury.

{coyotes} 2023 NHL All-Star Game Fan Vote winners unveiled

Remove Android Pattern, PIN, Password and Fingerprints in 5 minutes.

Leon Draisaitl and David Pastrnak were among the 12 players chosen in the 2023 NHL All-Star Fan Vote presented by Guaranteed Rate to participate in the Honda NHL All-Star Weekend.

The forwards ranked second and fourth in the NHL in scoring (Draisaitl, 70; Pastrnak, 63) behind Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers (84) entering Thursday.

The All-Star Fan Vote determined the final three players (two skaters, one goalie) for each of the four divisions: the Metropolitan, Atlantic, Central and Pacific. The initial rosters were selected by the NHL hockey operations department, which chose one player from each of the 32 NHL teams and were revealed Jan. 5. The final 12 players were announced Thursday.

Draisaitl's Oilers teammate, goalie Stuart Skinner, was voted in by the fans for the Pacific Division, along with Vancouver Canucks forward Bo Horvat. Draisaitl will be making his fourth All-Star Game appearance. It will be the first for Skinner and second for Horvat.

[RELATED: 2023 NHL All-Star Game coverage]

Pastrnak (third appearance) will join his Boston Bruins teammate, goalie Linus Ullmark, who was previously selected. Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy (fourth) and Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews (fifth) were the other two players voted in by the fans for the Atlantic Division.

"It's great to have another teammate there, especially when you bring your families together," Pastrnak said. "They know each other and can hang out together. It's more fun and it's definitely more special to have a teammate to share it with."

In the Metropolitan Division, New York Islanders goalie Ilya Sorokin was voted in by the fans, as were New York Rangers forward Artemi Panarin and defenseman Adam Fox. Each of the three players will be making his first All-Star Game appearance.

"[Sorokin's] probably the most deserving," said center Brock Nelson, who will also represent the Islanders. " … He gives us a chance. If we're not at our best [we can] still win games, so well deserved for him and happy for him."

Forwards Nathan MacKinnon (fifth) and Mikko Rantanen (second) were selected via the Fan Vote and will join their Colorado Avalanche teammate Cale Makar, a defenseman who was previously selected to represent the Central Division. Winnipeg Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck (third) was selected as the fan-elected goalie.

The players added by the 2023 NHL All-Star Fan Vote presented by Guaranteed Rate reflect the top vote-getters in each division, excluding those players who presented bona fide reasons for non-participation and who were excused as a result.

The All-Star Game will take place at FLA LIVE Arena in Sunrise, Florida, on Feb. 4 (3 p.m. ET; ABC, ESPN+, CBC, SN, TVAS). The All-Star Skills presented by DraftKings Sportsbook will take place Feb. 3 (7 p.m. ET; ESPN, ESPN+, SN, TVAS).

The All-Star Game will feature a three-game tournament, played in a 3-on-3 format and showcasing teams from each division. Each of the four teams will consist of nine skaters and two goalies.

Rod Brind'Amour of the Carolina Hurricanes (Metropolitan), Jim Montgomery of the Bruins (Atlantic), Peter DeBoer of the Dallas Stars (Central) and Bruce Cassidy of the Vegas Golden Knights (Pacific) were selected as coaches. Their teams had the best points percentage in their respective divisions through games of Jan. 11, when the NHL hit the official midpoint of the season.

The Arizona Coyotes' jersey game is heating up.

The Coyotes unveiled their new "Desert Night" third jerseys on Wednesday.

Rhuigi Villaseñor, fashion designer and the Coyotes creative strategist, designed the sweaters.

The burgundy jerseys feature a star above the "I" in "Arizona" which represents nighttime in the desert when coyotes hunt and the Arizona state flag. The "C" captain patch is made by a half moon and the "A" patch is made with two cacti. A Kachina print runs throughout the bottom of the jersey and the sleeves.

"My inspiration for the third jersey came from the environment, the community, the colors, and the clay - roots of the AZ Culture," Villaseñor told the Coyotes. "I feel honored to pioneer with the Coyotes the reimagining of the sport alongside culture and design."

The Coyotes will wear the "Desert Night" jerseys 14 times at Mullett Arena this season, with their debut set for Sunday's game against the Vegas Golden Knights.

{coyotes} Coyotes beat Red Wings 4-3 in shootout to end 9-game skid

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) Nick Schmaltz and Nick Bjugstad scored on Arizona's first two shootout attempts and the Coyotes beat the Detroit Red Wings 4-3 on Tuesday night to end a nine-game losing streak.

Bjugstad, Travis Boyd and Dylan Guenther scored in regulation for the Coyotes. Lawson Crouse had three assists, and Connor Ingram made 37 saves. The Coyotes fell behind 3-1 early in the third period before Boyd and Guenther scored 1:10 apart to force overtime.

''We're going to play a full 60 minutes no matter what is going on,'' Boyd said. ''It's an identity of our team. We might not go out there and out-skill a team every night, but that's no excuse for not being able to work harder than the other team. To be more resilient. To fight through. We go down 3-1, we could have packed it early.

''I think we've been playing better than some of the results that we've been getting the last week or so.''

Ingram has started two straight games for the first time this season. He stopped 25 shots in a 2-1 loss Saturday in Minnesota.

''It's a learning curve for a young goalie who has always been No. 1,'' Coyotes coach Andre Tourigny said. ''You play two, three times a week. You have a rhythm. When you are a backup goalie and you play a bad game, you need to live with for 10 days, two weeks. It's tough mentally. Now he has a chance to play a little bit more because we play more games, and that's helps him to get going and be in a more regular situation.''

Dylan Larkin scored his team-leading 15th goal for Detroit. Pius Suter and David Perron also scored for the Red Wings in the second game of a back-to-back. They have lost six of eight.

''Loved their effort,'' Detroit coach Derek Lalonde said. ''Probably got a little bit in the third there, which is perfectly understandable in a back-to-back. Ran into a really good goalie tonight. A little unfortunate witn not being able to finish, but the way we played tonight, three goals on the road should be enough.''

The Coyotes had only eight goals in their previous six games before breaking out in the third period. They scored the final three goals of the game while playing their third straight one-goal game.

After a sluggish first two periods, each team scored twice in a 3:03 span early in the third. Suter and Perron scored 58 seconds apart to give the Red Wings a 3-1 lead, and Boyd and Guenther countered in the 1:10 span to tie it.

Guenther scored into an open side at 7:53 after Crouse's shot from the left circle hit the post and caromed to him.

Magnus Hellberg made 20 saves for the Red Wings in his first start in five games. Hellstrom stopped Guenther's point-blank shot 3:32 of the third period, the best scoring chance for either team before overtime.

''I'm really disappointed right now,'' Hellberg said. ''Obviously, when you have the lead 3-1 of course you want to keep them out and win the game in regulation.''

NOTES

Red Wings D Robert Hagg (undisclosed) was scratched for a second straight game after being activated Monday. Injuries have limited him to one appearance in the last 28 games. . The Coyotes are in a stretch of 15 games in 26 days, a schedule that includes three back-to-backs and no more than one day off between games. . Arizona has a six-game points streak (5-0-1) against Detroit, its longest active streak against any opponent. . Coyotes F Liam O'Brien (upper body) missed his 16th straight game.
