COYOTES (35-37-7) AT BLACKHAWKS (46-26-7)
TV: 8:30 p.m. ET, FS-A, CSN-CH, NHL.TV
Season series: The Chicago Blackhawks won the first two games against the Arizona Coyotes, which were played at Gila River Arena. Chicago won 7-5 on Dec. 29 to begin a Blackhawks record 12-game win streak and won 5-4 in overtime on Feb. 4, ending it on Jonathan Toews' second goal of the game. Toews has three goals and Patrick Kane has two goals and four points to lead Chicago. Oliver Ekman-Larsson (one goal and five assists) and Shane Doan (four goals) have paced the Coyotes.
Coyotes team scope: Antoine Vermette will make his first trip back to United Center since helping the Blackhawks win the 2015 Stanley Cup there last season. Vermette, who was acquired by the Blackhawks at the NHL Trade Deadline last season, scored his 16th goal in Arizona's 5-2 loss at the St. Louis Blues on Monday. After stretch of six wins in eight games, the Coyotes have lost three of their past four. The loss in St. Louis, in which they held a 2-0 lead, started a four-game road trip to finish the season. Louis Domingue is expected to start in net. Forwards Martin Hanzal and Eric Selleck are day-to-day with upper-body injuries. Hanzal didn't travel to St. Louis, but could rejoin the Coyotes during the trip. Defenseman Nicklas Grossmann stayed in Arizona to be with his wife for the birth of their child. He's also expected to rejoin the Coyotes before the season ends. Rookie forward Anthony Duclair gave Arizona its 2-0 lead against St. Louis with his 20th goal. "It's a pretty nice accomplishment," Duclair told the Coyotes website. "At the same time, I'm sharing it with all my teammates. I've got to give all the credit to them. They've been supporting me throughout the whole season."
Blackhawks team scope: Chicago is seven points ahead of the Nashville Predators for third in the Central Division and appears to be locked into that spot for the Stanley Cup Playoffs with three games left. The Blackhawks (99 points) trail the Dallas Stars and Blues by six points each. Chicago will be without defenseman Duncan Keith, who will serve the third game of a six-game suspension for high sticking, and will likely be without right wing Marian Hossa too. Hossa sustained a lower-body injury in the third period of the Blackhawks' 6-4 win against the Boston Bruins at United Center on Sunday. "He's not bad today, but he's questionable for [Tuesday], maybe doubtful," coach Joel Quenneville said Monday, after the Blackhawks' off-ice workouts. "Initially we were concerned, but the news wasn't so bad afterwards." Hossa is expected to return in one of Chicago's final games before the postseason. Forward Andrew Shaw (upper body) and goalie Corey Crawford (upper body) are out. Shaw will miss his second game. Crawford, who recently resumed on-ice work, will miss his ninth straight game. Scott Darling will make his 10th straight start in net.
