{coyotes} Beagle out at least eight weeks, perhaps for season for Coyotes

Jay Beagle will be sidelined at least eight weeks and could be out for the season for the Arizona Coyotes after having surgery to repair a lower-body injury.

The 36-year-old forward has scored one goal in 21 games for the Coyotes this season. He has not played since Dec. 11, when he scored in a 5-3 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.

This was his first season with Arizona after he was acquired in a trade with the Vancouver Canucks on July 23, 2021, that sent defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson to Vancouver.

Beagle has scored 143 points (58 goals, 85 assists) in 634 regular-season games over 14 NHL seasons with the Washington Capitals, Canucks and Coyotes, and 21 points (nine goals, 12 assists) in 102 Stanley Cup Playoff games. He scored eight points (two goals, six assists) in 23 playoff games to help the Capitals win the Cup in 2018.
