Jakob Chychrun is expected to return to the lineup for the Coyotes at the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday (7 p.m. ET; MSG+, BSAZ, ESPN+, NHL LIVE).
The defensemen has missed 11 games; Chychrun missed seven games after sustaining an upper-body injury in a 3-1 loss to the Florida Panthers on Dec. 10 and missed four after he was placed in NHL COVID-19 protocol on Jan. 10.
Chychrun has scored seven points (two goals, five assists) in 26 games.
"History says the guy that returns after a long period, in his first game, he will have adrenaline, urgency, he will be excited, and all the emotion will get into it," Arizona coach Andre Tourigny said. "When you're out that long, it's usually the second or third game where (fatigue could show). So, the next two weeks will be the most challenging (for Chychrun), not the next 12 hours. At least I don't think so."
Tourigny was removed from COVID-19 protocol on Tuesday and will coach after missing four games. Defenseman Anton Stralman was removed from protocol on Tuesday and is expected to return after missing four games.
