ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) Trevor Zegras scored at 3:34 of overtime and the Anaheim Ducks beating the Arizona Coyotes 2-1 on Saturday night for their first three-game winning streak of the season.

John Klingberg stole the puck from Matias Maccelli in the offensive zone and found Zegras in the slot for a wrist shot for his 18th goal.

Max Jones also scored, and John Gibson made 32 saves. The Ducks have won four of their past five games.

Nick Ritchie scored and Connor Ingram made 43 saves for the Coyotes. They are tied with the Ducks for the second-worst record in the Western Conference.

It was the last game before the All-Star break for both teams, who are firmly in contention to win the NHL draft lottery and select Connor Bedard with the first overall pick in June.

Jones tied it at 1 for the Ducks with 7:28 left in the second period. He scored his fourth goal on a wrist shot from the right circle, set up by assists from the defensive pair of Klingberg and Urho Vaakanainen.

The Coyotes had the only goal in the first period. Christian Fischer found Ritchie in the slot to shoot into an open net with 3:39 remaining, good for Ritchie's ninth of the season.

It was the third point in the past two games for Ritchie, who was drafted in the first round by the Ducks in 2014. He had two assists in a win over St. Louis on Thursday.

BAD BLOOD

Zegras received a 10-minute misconduct for cross-checking Barrett Hayton during a power play. Zegras also said something during the ensuing scrum that made usually zen defenseman Troy Stecher irate.

Zegras has not been happy with the Coyotes since Anaheim forward Troy Terry sustained facial injuries in a fight with then-Arizona center Jay Beagle last April after coming to Zegras' defense.

WORTH NOTING

Fischer got his 50th career assist in 368 games. . Ducks D Kevin Shattenkirk missed his second straight game because of a lower-body injury.

{coyotes} Schmaltz has hat trick to back Vejmelka in Coyotes' 5-0 win

--
banners Meal Ninja - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) Nick Schmaltz had his first NHL hat trick, Karel Vejmelka made 33 saves for his third shutout of the season and the Arizona Coyotes beat the St. Louis Blues 5-0 on Thursday night.

Schmaltz scored twice in a three-minute span midway through the second period, and scored again 13 seconds into the third period when his shot slid past the red line as one of the Blues knocked the goal off its moorings in a scramble in front of the net. The goal was confirmed after a review.

''Pretty cool,'' Schmaltz said. ''I feel like our game as a line and the team has been trending in the right direction and got rewarded tonight. It's always fun when you can score and contribute in a big win like that. Lot of fun out there. Happy to get the first `hatty.'''

Travis Boyd and Barrett Hayton also scored in for the Coyotes in their third victory 15 games. Hayton has five goals in his last 11 games.

''It was kind of a weird play,'' Schmaltz said anout his third goal. ''I thought their guy pushed it (cage) off initially but I didn't really know, so I just tried to whack it. Lucky enough they buzzed it right before they were ready to drop the puck for a faceoff. Fortunate to get that bounce.''

Vejmelka stopped a point-blank shot by Jordan Kyrou just before Schmaltz's first goal, in what turned out to be the Blues' best scoring chance.

''He was rested. He was ready. He was confident,'' Coyotes coach Andre Tourigny said about Vejmelka, who had alternated with Connor Ingram for the last eight games. ''It was rare that they had a shot tonight that I was worried. There were not many situations where I was, `Oh, what is going to happen here.' He was in control.''

Schmaltz scored his first goal 11 minutes into the second period when he tipped in cross-ice pass from Lawson Crouse for a 1-0 lead. Schmaltz picked up a loose puck along the boards three minutes later and skated in alone on Thomas Greiss, beating him high on the glove side. Greiss had 22 saves.

The Coyotes killed three power plays. St Louis had scored 14 power-play goals in its last 18 games, eighth in the league in that span. The Blues have lost three in a row and five of seven to fall back to .500 at 23-23-3.

''Those are three teams where you look at the schedule, and all due respect to to any team in this league, but those are the games you have to play better and grab points,'' said Blues forward Brayden Schenn, whose team lost to Chicago and Buffalo in the previous two. ''To come away with zero points, it's obviously tough, and now you find yourself digging out of a hole again. Obviously not playing our best hockey right now.''

Defenseman Justin Faulk appeared to give the Blues a 1-0 lead five minutes into the game with a goal from the right circle, but the goal was disallowed when Robert Thomas was called for goaltender interference. Thomas skated through the crease moments before the shot went in, although the contact appeared negligible. Vejmelka said he was struck over the shoulder.

''Nothing crazy,'' Vejmelka said of the contact, ''but it's no goal. They (Blues) played a really good game the first two periods. We need more wins right now. We have to be strong in the last game before the break.''

NOTES

Coyotes D Shayne Gostisbehere (upper body) is expected to miss 4 to 6 weeks after being injured in the third period against Anaheim on Tuesday night. He has nine goals and 20 assists, second on the team in points to F Clayton Keller (42). . Thomas was removed from the game midway through the second period after taking a stick in the midsection and did not return. . Coyotes F Matias Maccelli returned after missing 16 games with a lower-body injury. Crouse returned after missing four games with an upper-body injury.

{coyotes} Fowler scores twice, Ducks knock off Coyotes 5-2

--
banners Meal Ninja - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) Troy Terry saw his teammate go down, the referee's hand go up for a major penalty and kept skating. Using some nifty stickhandling, he weaved around a defender and scored before the offending Arizona player could be sent to the penalty box.

Cam Fowler scored once the power play started and the Anaheim Ducks used a rare fast start to beat the Coyotes 5-2 on Tuesday night.

''That's Troy,'' Ducks coach Dallas Eakins said ''He has that ability to go through people. He's unbelievable at putting pucks underneath guys sticks and controlling it that way. He could easily have had a couple more.''

Plagued by slow recent starts, the Ducks jumped on the Coyotes early and scored twice after a game misconduct was called on Arizona's Juuso Valimaki. Fowler had two goals and assist. Frank Vatrano added a goal and assist to give Anaheim a 4-0 lead after falling behind three goals in each of the previous two games.

''It feels like we've been spotting other teams goals in the first period, just through mental errors, and I thought we limited that,'' said Terry, who had two assists. ''I thought we had a lot of energy to start.''

Arizona's didn't come until late.

The Coyotes picked up the intensity after Fowler's second goal, cutting Anaheim's lead in half on goals by Barrett Hayton and Nick Schmaltz.

Adam Henrique ended Arizona's hopes of completing the comeback on an empty-net goal with 3 1/2 minutes left.

Connor Ingram had 39 saves for Arizona, which has lost 12 of 14.

''I like the no quit at the end,'' Coyotes coach Andre Tourigny said. ''I did not like our start. A little bit sloppy defensively and they're a skilled team.''

The Ducks had to rally from three-goal deficits their last two games, beating Columbus 5-3 and losing to Buffalo 6-3.

Anaheim got off to a much better start against Arizona, scoring late in the first period when Vatrano beat Ingram with a one-timer from the slot.

In the second period, Anaheim took advantage after Valimaki received a five-minute major and game misconduct for a retaliatory slash to the back of Max Jones.

Terry scored before Valimaki was sent off, stick handling his way around Dylan Guenther then beating Ingram to the glove side on a delayed penalty.

''I had a lot of space to get some speed going,'' Terry said. ''That's kind of exciting as it's tough to get the pockets with space in the National Hockey League. So when there's a delayed penalty, you take advantage of times like that.''

Fowler made it 3-0 on the power play, beating Ingram through traffic from just inside the blue line. He scored again from near the blue line early in the second period on a shot Ingram had trouble seeing through a screen.

The Coyotes fought back.

Hayton scored on a short breakaway midway through the third period after Ducks defenseman Simon Benoit turned it over in his own end. Schmaltz scored on a power play less than four minutes later, punching in a rebound after Jakob Chychrun broke his stick on a shot.

''We crawled back in it,'' Tourigny said. ''A lot of fight and the guys never quit.''

They just started too late.

KELEMAN'S DEBUT

Coyotes forward Milos Keleman made his NHL debut after being called up from Tucson of the AHL.

He was nervous, as expected, even during his traditional solo warmup lap.

''I had to be careful because maybe I'd fall and it would be funny,'' he said. ''I was careful, but it was amazing.''

The 23-year-old Slovakian had one shot and three hits in 10 minutes of ice time.

NOTES: Anaheim D John Klingberg didn't play due to an illness. ... The Coyotes signed Valimaki to a one-year contract extension earlier Tuesday. The 24-year-old Finnish player has five goals and 23 assists in 125 career NHL games with Arizona and Calgary. ... Anaheim F Trevor Zegras had an assist on Fowler's first goal to extend his point streak to six games.

{coyotes} 2023 NHL All-Star Skills highlighted by 3 new events

--
banners Meal Ninja - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

The 2023 NHL All-Star Skills presented by Draftkings Sportsbook will feature three new events.

Two of the new events, the Enterprise NHL Splash Shot and Chipotle NHL Pitch 'n Puck, will feature players displaying their skills in outdoor environments that typify Florida. Also new is the Discover NHL Tendy Tandem, an innovative goaltending skills test.

The Enterprise NHL Splash Shot will be on the beach at Fort Lauderdale and feature eight players, divided into four teams of two. Players are required to hit all the targets before attempting to dunk their opponents, the winner being the one to dunk his or her opponents first.

The Chipotle NHL Pitch 'n Puck will have players combine their hockey and golf skills on a par-4 golf hole featuring an island green. Six players will participate, the winner being the one who successfully sinks the puck/ball in the hole with the fewest shots using a combination of hockey and golf shots. If there's a tie, the longest drive determines the winner.

In the Discover NHL Tendy Tandem, eight goalies will work in tandems, one shooting and the other in net (Central vs. Pacific and Atlantic vs. Metro divisions). The shooting goalie from a division will take a shot from a designated mark and will be awarded three points if the shot goes in the hole, two if it hits the in-net target and zero if it misses the net.

The in-net goalie will face one, two or three players, depending on points earned from the shooting goalie. Players start from center ice and must shoot on the rush. NHL shootout rules, in general, will apply. Play continues until all pucks have been shot and is repeated for the second goalie pairing, and the goalie tandem with the most points wins.

The Upper Deck NHL Fastest Skater, GEICO NHL Hardest Shot, Great Clips NHL Breakaway Challenge and Honda NHL Accuracy Shooting round out the list of skills competition events. The winner of each event will earn $30,000.

Former NHL goalie and Hockey Hall of Famer Roberto Luongo will participate as celebrity goaltender in the breakaway challenge.

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) Clayton Keller had his second hat trick of the season and the Arizona Coyotes beat the Golden Knights 4-1 on Sunday night, their second victory in the last 13 games.

Phil Kessel scored and Logan Thompson had 19 saves for Vegas, which has lost four of five.

The Coyotes are 9-7-2 at home and have beaten Atlantic Division leader and Pacific Division leader Vegas in 5,000-seat Mullett Arena. Every other team has played at least 21 home games.

Guenther scored first two minutes into the game when he beat Thompson high to the glove side after a slick pass Nick Bjugstad from behind the net. His goal ended the Coyotes' 134-minute scoring drought in regulation and was their first since Guenther scored early in the third period of a 4-3 overtime victory over Detroit on Tuesday. The Coyotes were shut out the previous two games.

Keller made it 2-0 after picking up a loose puck 90 seconds into the second period before Kessel's power-play goal made it 2-1 at 9:03. Kessel's high shot from the left circle deflected off the stick of Coyote defenseman Troy Stecher, who was stationed just outside the crease.
