I decided to make a very early morning visit to what I'd heard was one of the aviation meccas of Canada.  I didn't appreciate that Red Deer is home to Airspray and Buffalo Airways, both of which specialize in Electras with other aircraft gems to boot.  As I understand it, Airspray's aircraft are exclusively for fire work, while Buffalo Airways takes cargo to the north and dabbles in other businesses.  I saw everything I could from the outside but, looking on Google Maps, I realize I probably missed quite a bit.  What an amazing little out-of-the-way airport.

The Convairs are ex-Conair, bought for their engines apparently.

I suspected that the barely-marked and private airfield at Airdrie would have a few gems…and it delivered.

Air Antilles          DHT  FOHJG
                      CRJ  N920CA  fuselage hulk
                      DHT  CGACU  stored fuselage

…plus two more Twin Otter fuselages stored and the fuselage hulks of two ex-Air Littoral CRJs, two all-white CRJs, and one ex-US Airways Express Dash 8.  Many of these I'm guessing had previously been at YYC.

After all these years I finally rediscovered the way to read off (most of) the aircraft stored midfield.  Between Avmax, Viking/de Havilland, Central Mountain, Kenn Borek, Westjet, and others, Calgary never disappoints.
