retire an ex-MH 744 quite early after they discovered that the aircraft in fact had hidden (and serious) damage from some work done at MH years earlier. So it is possible the aircraft has a problem that isn't worth repairing.
The secondary issue is that if the A330-300 is fairly old, it isn't especially capable. There have been a number of engine and MGTOW upgrades to the A330 over the years, so that today's A330-300 is actually far more capable than the original A330-300. So the market for an early A330-300 may not be very good....
