Titan Missile Museum event for our club is April 18th. We will try to get there around 10:00am...so I would recommend leaving the valley around 8am. This is a first come, first use on the antenna. The gates open up at 8:45 so technically we could leave earlier than that. However, in the past we have never had an issue.
We will need a source of power, and at least one radio. I recommend we bring two, just in case, but since there is only one antenna, there will be no need for multiple stations on the air.
We will also need to bring a shelter along with us. Chances are, it will be warm and sunny. I will keep an eye on the weather, but bring sun screen, hat, and plenty of water. No beer or alcohol allowed since this event you will have to drive to and from.
If you want to tour the Museum, it's free. But if you want to tour the underground part, the cost is $9.50 for adults and teens, $6 for those under 12.
You are on your own to travel, so keep this in mind. Club is not responsible for tickets, breakdowns nor gas.
Things to bring:
Food
Water - Soda - Tea
Sun Screen
Sense of Humor - MUST HAVE
I will bring my radio, but if someone has a radio they would like to test out or use, please bring it. We are an experimenting club and not afraid to try something new.
We will monitor 146.520 simplex all the way down.
Look forward to seeing everyone down there.
