{coyotes} Bruins top Coyotes for second straight win

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Patrice Bergeron scored twice, including the go-ahead power-play goal with 10:50 left in the third period, and David Krejci continued his hot start with a goal and an two assists in the Boston Bruins' 5-3 win against the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday.

Boston has won back-to-back games after an 0-3-0 start. The Coyotes have followed a 3-0-0 start with consecutive home losses.

Shane Doan had a goal and two assists for Arizona, passing the 900-point mark in the process. He trails Dale Hawerchuk by 10 goals and 27 points for the all-time franchise record in each category.

Boston rookie Tyler Randell scored his second goal in his second NHL game and goalie Tuukka Rask made 20 saves for the Bruins, who outshot the Coyotes 19-3 in the second period and led 3-1 early in the third period before the Coyotes rallied to tie the game with two quick goals.

Tobias Rieder followed Brad Marchand's shorthanded goal at 4:44 with a power-play goal for Arizona 13 seconds later. Kyle Chipchura tied the game at 7:21, burying a Doan feed to make it 3-3.

But Coyotes center Martin Hanzal went to the box for slashing less than a minute later and Bergeron beat Arizona goalie Mike Smith to put the Bruins ahead for good. Bergeron gave the Bruins some insurance by scoring another power-play with 1:06 left. He has three goals this season.

Krejci has four goals and nine points in the Bruins' first five games, putting him in a tie for the NHL scoring lead. Torey Krug had two assists for Boston, giving him six in five games.

Smith made 38 saves for the Coyotes and was very strong, but the Bruins just kept coming.

Doan was credited with a goal when the puck was inadvertently kicked into the net by Bruins defenseman Kevan Miller 2:12 into the game, but the Coyotes didn't get another shot for 11 minutes. The Bruins outshot the Coyotes 14-7 in the first period, then turned it up a notch in the second and finally solved Smith with overwhelming pressure.

Krug pounced on a turnover in the neutral zone and Krejci slid a pass to Randell for a backhander that beat Smith over the glove to the far corner at 8:42. Randell scored in his NHL debut in Boston's 6-2 win at the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday.

Krejci got his goal on the power play at 15:19, a one-timer from the left circle set up by Krug after the Bruins had put several good shots on Smith. Marchand, back after missing two games with a concussion, got behind the defense, took a Tommy Cross pass off the boards and beat Smith on a shorthanded breakaway 4:44 into the third period for a 3-1 lead.
