{coyotes} Coyotes' Vermette has streak end at 482 games

Arizona Coyotes forward Antoine Vermette did not play Saturday against the Ottawa Senators because of a lower-body injury, ending his streak of 482 consecutive regular-season games played.

He was attempting to become the 21st NHL player to appear in 500 consecutive games. His streak was the second-longest among active players, behind only Andrew Cogliano of the Anaheim Ducks (629).

The streak began on March 7, 2009, when Vermette debuted with the Columbus Blue Jackets after being traded by the Senators. He was a healthy scratch at times for the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Vermette, 33, does not have a point in seven games this season.
