COYOTES (1-4-0) at DEVILS (2-2-1)

7 p.m. ET; MSG+, FS-A, NHL.TV

Coyotes team scope

Goaltender Justin Peters will make his first NHL start this season for the Arizona Coyotes. Peters allowed one goal on 24 shots in 34:11 in relief of Louis Domingue in a 5-2 loss at the Montreal Canadiens on Oct. 20. His last NHL start came on Feb. 15, 2015, when he was the winning goaltender in the Washington Capitals' 5-3 victory against the Anaheim Ducks. Coyotes starter Mike Smith is week to week with a lower-body injury and Dominque is 0-4-0 with a 5.03 GAA. The Coyotes are 0-4-0 entering the fifth of a season-long six-game road, and they are 0-for-7 on the power play in their past three games. Arizona allows 4.20 goals per game, last in the League. Arizona is averaging 2.80 goals per game, though forwards Anthony Duclair and Max Domi have yet to score a goal. In 2015-16, Duclair scored 20 goals, third on the team, and tied for the most power-play goals (eight) among NHL rookies. Domi was second on the Coyotes with 52 points, including 18 goals. "It's always going to get tougher and tougher, it's the NHL, it's what you expect," Domi said. "But we have to find a way to overcome that. So far I haven't been doing great at that this year so far, but finding a way of being more consistent, staying calm, will be important."

Devils team scope

Goaltender Cory Schneider will make his sixth straight start. New Jersey Devils coach John Hynes said backup Keith Kinkaid will likely get his first start at home against either the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday or Tampa Bay Lighting on Saturday. "[Kinkaid's] workload will pick up. The schedule really gets condensed in November and December where we play a lot of back-to-backs and three games in four nights," Hynes said. "[Kinkaid] will get a lot more work than he got this month coming up really soon." Hynes will keep his top line intact, with rookie Pavel Zacha centering Taylor Hall and Kyle Palmieri. "I thought they skated really well [in a 2-1 overtime win against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday] and were threatening offensively," Hynes said. "They were also a collective plus-5 and I can have them out there against any opposing line."

Status report

Defenseman Jamie McBain cleared waivers on Tuesday and was sent to Tucson in the American Hockey League. McGinn, who signed a three-year, $10 million contract on July 1, will make his season debut after missing the first five games because of an upper-body injury. He skated with Duclair and Martinook at practice on Monday and at the morning skate Tuesday. … Santini, who was recalled from Albany of the American Hockey League on Monday following a one-game, 4-3 overtime victory against Providence on Sunday, will be a healthy scratch for the sixth straight game. A decision will be made later in the day on whether Santini will be returned to Albany. "[Santini] is a high-character kid and leader and would like to play more, but the thing we recognize is he's learning," Hynes said. "He gets a lot out of meetings and being around NHL players and seeing the lifestyle and practices. He can go through a situation like this and still grow from it." … Boucher will return to the lineup alongside left wing Sergey Kalinin and center Vernon Fiddler. The Devils returned forward Blake Speers to Sault Ste. Marie of the Ontario Hockey League on Monday.
