CANADIENS (30-17-8) at COYOTES (17-28-6)
9 p.m. ET; FS-A, SNE, RDS, NHL.TV
Canadiens team scope
The Montreal Canadiens will have some new faces in the lineup when they try to end a season-long four-game losing streak. The Canadiens recalled forwards Michael McCarron and Daniel Carr from St. John's of the American Hockey League and returned defenseman Jacob De La Rose. McCarron and Carr will be in the lineup for Montreal, which has been shut out in back-to-back games for the first time since March 24-26, 2011. The 4-0 loss at the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday extended their scoreless streak to 137:11. Montreal did not practice Wednesday, but TVA Sports reported that general manager Marc Bergevin had separate meetings with the players and coach Michel Therrien. Despite going 3-6-2 in their past 11 games, the Canadiens have an eight-point lead over the second-place Ottawa Senators in the Atlantic Division. Goalie Carey Price, second cousin of Arizona Coyotes captain Shane Doan, will try to end a personal three-game losing streak.
Coyotes team scope
Center Martin Hanzal did not practice Wednesday and was missing from the morning skate because of illness. He will be a game-time decision. Defenseman Alex Goligoski was also ill this week but is expected to play. The Coyotes will go for their fifth win in their past seven games, a spurt that's been fueled by the offense. Arizona has scored at least three goals in six of its past eight games. "We played with a lot of passion and commitment to doing things right and playing hard, and that's what he expect tonight," coach Dave Tippett said. The Coyotes will play the first of seven games in a 12-day span. "It's not a lot of practice time and we don't expect them to have a lot of practice but make sure you bring every bit of energy to the games," Tippett said. "And that's what we're looking for." Forward Ryan White was selected by the Canadiens in the third round (No. 66) of the 2006 NHL Draft and said playing them still has a special meaning. "Definitely had that one circled on the calendar," White said. "It's always fun to go out there and play hard against your old team."
