DUCKS (31-19-10) at COYOTES (20-30-7)

9 p.m. ET; FS-A, SN1, PRIME, NHL.TV

Ducks team scope

The Anaheim Ducks are five points behind the Pacific Division-leading San Jose Sharks and have scored one goal in each of the past three games. However, they've won two of them because of goaltender John Gibson who earned his second 1-0 shutout win in six days with 24 saves against the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday. "That's the way we want to play," Gibson said Sunday. "Obviously we're not scoring a ton of goals, so we've got to find other ways and it starts with defense." Gibson has five shutouts this season and four since Jan. 4, but might give way to Jonathan Bernier, who shut out the Arizona Coyotes on Jan. 14. Anaheim was 0-for-2 on the power play against the Kings and is 2-for-26 in its past 10 games. "They are a big, heavy team and they have a playoff mentality as they fight for position," Coyotes center Martin Hanzal said. "I think it's going to be a really physical game."

Coyotes team scope

The Coyotes will make changes on defense in search of their first win in four games against the Ducks this season (0-2-1). Michael Stone, who has one point in his past 11 games, will be a healthy scratch for the first time since Dec. 29. "We have seven guys and we're just going to rotate them," coach Dave Tippett said. Connor Murphy will move into the top four and pair with Alex Goligoski. Arizona scored at least two goals in 13 straight games before a 4-1 loss to the Sharks on Saturday. Hanzal, who turned 30 on Monday, scored against the Sharks, his fifth goal in hia past five games. He has 15 this season, one shy of his NHL career high. "All his goals have been around the net and that's where he's the most effective," Tippett said. "He's a big strong guy who's hard to move." Goalie Mike Smith will make his 39th start of the season. Louis Domingue remains out with a lower-body injury and Marek Langhamer will be Smith's backup for a third straight game.
