The Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday sent 10 players to their American Hockey League team, the Portland Pirates.
Among those sent down was forward Brett Hextall, who is attempting to become the fourth member of his family to play in the NHL. His great-grandfather, Bryan Hextall Sr., played 11 seasons with the New York Rangers and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1969. His grandfather, Bryan Hextall Jr., played with four teams in eight NHL seasons, and his father, Ron Hextall, was an NHL goaltender for 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers, Quebec Nordiques and New York Islanders.
Also sent to the AHL were forwards Darian Dziurzynski, Philip Lane, Mark Louis, Jordan Martinook, Tobias Rieder and Ethan Werek; defensemen Mathieu Brisebois and Daine Todd; and goaltender Louis Domingue.
