Free-agent forward Guillaume Latendresse, who spent last season with the Ottawa Senators, has been invited to the Phoenix Coyotes' training camp, according to assistant general manager Brad Treliving.
Latendresse, 26, had six goals and 10 points in 27 games with the Senators in 2012-13. The 6-foot-2, 240-pound power forward scored 73 goals in his first 287 NHL games, including 25 in 55 games for the Minnesota Wild in 2009-10. But his career was derailed by hip, hernia and concussion issues from 2010-12 -- he played only 27 of a possible 164 games in those two seasons.
He was the Montreal Canadiens' second-round pick (No. 45) in the 2005 NHL Draft and made the team as a 19-year-old in 2006-07. He was traded to Minnesota on Nov. 23, 2009.
Gilbert Brule, the sixth player chosen in the 2005 draft, will also get a tryout from the Coyotes.
