NEW YORK - With today's start of the 2014-15 NHL season, NHL Network™-U.S., Where the NHL Gets Hockey™, announced today the launch of its programming lineup for the new season.
New to the Network for U.S. fans this season is the addition of a suite of NHL programs from Rogers Communications. NHL Network-U.S. will simulcast the popular midday hockey panel HOCKEY CENTRAL at Noon featuring Daren Millard, Nick Kypreos and Doug MacLean. Each weekday from Noon-1 p.m. ET, the group discusses and dissects the latest news and information from around the League.
Along with the midday show, Sportsnet's popular nightly re-cap show HOCKEY CENTRAL Tonight will be televised on NHL Network-U.S. nightly, Monday through Friday. Sportsnet's team of hosts and analysts, including Millard, Kypreos, MacLean, John Shannon, Glenn Healy, Kelly Hrudey, P.J. Stock and others, take fans around the League to provide the latest highlights, scores, updates, interviews and analysis from everything going on in the NHL®.
On Saturdays, NHL Network-U.S. gets fans ready for hockey with the HOCKEY CENTRAL Saturday Preview Show from 5-6 p.m. ET, followed by HOCKEY CENTRAL Saturday from 6:30-7 p.m., leading into game action. These programs will be featured all season long on what is traditionally the League's busiest night of the week.
A new hockey tradition begins this season with Rogers Hometown Hockey. Each Sunday during the 2014-15 season, NHL Network-U.S. viewers will be along for the ride as Ron MacLean hosts a half-hour pregame show onsite from a different community across Canada live from the Sportsnet Mobile Studio, beginning Sunday, Oct. 12, at 6:30 p.m. ET from London, Ontario.
Returning Favorites
Hockey fans everywhere will continue to receive the kind of insider access only the NHL can provide from their favorite returning shows like NHL Live™, NHL On The Fly™, NHL Tonight™ and a slate of live NHL games from around the League throughout the week.
Originating from the special NHL Network studio perched above the NHL Powered by Reebok Store at the corner 47th St. and Ave. of the Americas in Midtown Manhattan, NHL Live remains a one-of-a-kind show. Beginning at 5 p.m. ET each weekday, host Steve Mears and analyst EJ Hradek provide fans everything they need to know leading into that night's schedule of NHL action as they interview players, executives, broadcasters, newsmakers and analysts from around the NHL.
NHL Network once again will bring fans nightly highlights with NHL On The Fly at 7 pm ET and NHL Tonight at 10 pm ET and will be hosted by returning hosts Mark Roe and Mike Kelly and new host Andi Petrillo. Joining them will be Lead Analyst Kevin Weekes, who again serves as a special contributor to NHL.com, as well as Analysts Craig Button, Kelly Chase, Jamal Mayers, Jamie McLennan, and Dave Reid. Packed with interviews and analysis, these programs will be the best way for hockey fans to keep up with on- and off-the-ice news as it happens each night during the season.
NHL Network will be on-site at the NHL's full schedule of special events. Host Kathryn Tappen and Analyst Barry Melrose will have coverage from the 2015 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic® in Washington, D.C., the 2015 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series™ from Levi's Stadium in Northern California and the 2015 NHL All-Star Weekend in Columbus.
NHL Network-U.S. begins its live game schedule on Saturday, Oct. 11, when the Pittsburgh Penguins skate into Toronto to visit the Maple Leafs at 7 p.m. ET. The following night, the Maple Leafs travel to New York to face the defending Eastern Conference champion New York Rangers at 7 p.m. ET. Opening Week
NHL Network-U.S. drops the puck on the new season with special programming throughout opening week.
The 2014-15 NHL regular season opens tonight, with the 2014 Molson Canadian NHL Face-Off™, the National Hockey League's 2014-15 season opening hockey and music festival and viewing party at Yonge-Dundas Square in downtown Toronto, to coincide with the four games tonight. At 5 p.m. ET, NHL Live gets things started, followed by HOCKEY CENTRAL from 6-7 p.m. ET. Next, at 7 p.m. ET, is the season premiere of NHL On The Fly, followed by NHL Tonight: Face Off Edition at the conclusion of the Philadelphia Flyers-Boston Bruins game.
