COYOTES (5-6-1) at DUCKS (10-3-1)

TV: FS-A, PRIME

Season series: The Anaheim Ducks won all five games against the Arizona Coyotes last season. Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf, Cam Fowler and Hampus Lindholm each had four points against the Coyotes, who haven't defeated the Ducks since April 27, 2013.

Coyotes team scope: Winners of two straight games for the second time this season, the Coyotes are finding their offense with nine goals in the two wins after scoring four during a three-game losing streak. "There's still areas we can improve," coach Dave Tippett told the Coyotes website. "That's what we talked about [Thursday]. We have to continue to build this group and move forward. Hopefully a little momentum and continue to play better in certain situations, and we continue to get good results." Goalie Mike Smith will start for the Coyotes. Forward Sam Gagner has two goals in two games after not scoring any in his first 10. Center Antoine Vermette has four points in two games and is second on Arizona in scoring (nine points) behind defenseman Keith Yandle (10). Yandle (47) and Oliver Ekman-Larsson (46) rank first and second, respectively, among NHL defensemen in shots on goal.

Ducks team scope: Getzlaf and Perry missed Anaheim's 3-2 overtime loss to the New York Islanders on Wednesday with flu-like symptoms. It was the first time each was out of the lineup because of injury or illness since March 28, 2008, a span of 471 regular-season and 45 Stanley Cup Playoff games. Getzlaf returned to the ice Thursday and will likely play. "Unless something really crazy happens, he should be ready [Friday]," coach Bruce Boudreau told the Ducks website. Perry remains day-to-day with his status for Friday to be determined. Goalie Frederik Andersen (leg stiffness) practiced with no issues and is expected to start for the Ducks after Jason LaBarbera played the past two games. Defenseman Bryan Allen (lower body) told the Los Angeles Times he expects to play. Forward Ryan Kesler had a maintenance day Thursday and didn't practice. The Ducks' injured list includes defenseman Ben Lovejoy (broken finger), forward Kyle Palmieri (ankle) and goalie John Gibson (groin).
