The only man who might be as busy with hockey business negotiations as NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and NHLPA executive director Donald Fehr is Shane Doan's agent, Terry Bross.
Bross said last week that at least 16 teams were interested in his client.
Although Doan, a 35-year-old unrestricted free agent, has yet to rule out a return to the club he captains and the only NHL franchise he's ever played for, the Phoenix Coyotes, the reported number of other teams that have fielded offers for the winger is now up to six.
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reporter Shelly Anderson tweeted Monday that the Penguins are now in the mix:
Have confirmed the #Penguins have made offer to UFA Shane Doan and there is mutual interest. Don't have terms of offer. No timetable.
Phoenix Sports 620 KTAR radio host John Gambadoro, who has been following the offer count closely, now has half a dozen teams in contention for Doan:
Add Pittsburgh to the list so Coyotes Captain Shane Doan has received confirmed offers from LA, SJ, Vancouver, Detroit, Buffalo & Pittsburgh
