NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly and NHLPA general counsel Steve Fehr resumed labour talks on Saturday, looking for common ground on issues in an effort to get back to more formal bargaining between both sides.
Both men met at an undisclosed location on Saturday afternoon and held discussions until 1am et on Saturday night.
"We had a series of meetings yesterday (Saturday) and exchanged views on the most important issues separating us," wrote Daly in an email to TSN on Sunday morning."We plan to meet again sometime early this week.''
The two had been talking by phone during the week.
The lockout reached its 50th day on Sunday. There have already been 327 games cancelled - including the New Year's Day Winter Classic that was wiped out Friday - and the NHL has said it will be impossible to play a full season.
