GLENDALE, Ariz. – The Vancouver Canucks could be without forward Alexandre Burrows when they go for a two-game, two-day sweep of a weekend road trip that ends Sunday against the Arizona Coyotes.
Vancouver earned a huge 4-1 win Saturday against the Los Angeles Kings. Fomer Coyote Radim Vrbata scored his 27th goal and added an assist to help the Canucks moved four points ahead of the Kings in the Pacific Division.
But Burrows took a hit from behind by Kings forward Tyler Toffoli in the third period. Burrows skated one shift before leaving the game for good. Toffoli was assessed a major penalty and a game misconduct for the hit.
If Burrows is out, Jannik Hansen is the likely candidate to play on the line with Henrik Sedin and Daniel Sedin.
Brandon McMillan, who has played three times since being claimed off waivers from the Coyotes on Feb. 12, would likely earn a start in the open forward spot.
Goalie Jacob Markstrom will start for the Canucks after Eddie Lack earned the win in Los Angeles. Marstrom is making his first start since March 3, when he allowed three goals on four shots and was removed 7:45 into a 6-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks. Markstrom had a 1.95 goals-against average and .932 save percentage with four shutouts for the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League.
Arizona also played Saturday, losing 3-1 to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Forward Tobias Rieder had the only goal for the reeling Coyotes. He scored shorthanded and leads all NHL rookies with three shorthanded goals, one short of the NHL. He and defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson have scored six of the past nine goals for the Coyotes.
The Coyotes are three points behind the Edmonton Oilers and have the worst record in the Western Conference, and are three points from joining the Buffalo Sabres with the worst record in the League. They have lost 17 of the past 18 games thanks to an offense that has scored 22 goals in that span.
Arizona has also lost 15 of the past 16 games at Gila River Arena, where it owns the League's worst home record (10-22-5). The Coyotes' last home win was against the Canucks on March 5, when they won 3-2 in a shootout. They won two of three previous games against Vancouver this season.
The Coyotes will be without forward Martin Erat, who sustained an upper-body injury Thursday against the Colorado Avalanche. They have 12 healthy forwards for the game after recalling Justin Hodgman from Portland of the AHL on an emergency basis.

Status report: Smith, who made 34 saves against the Penguins on Saturday, will start for Arizona. He will try to atone for an own-goal that turned the tide Saturday, when his clearing attempt up the center of the ice hit Pittsburgh's Brandon Sutter and bounced into the net.
Who's hot: Reider has scored four of his 12 goals in the past nine games. …Henrik and Daniel Sedin each have 23 points since the All-Star break to lead Vancouver. … Vrbata leads the Canucks in goals (27) and power-play goals (11).
