With most of the notable trade chips having already been dealt, Arizona Coyotes defenceman Zbynek Michalek is one of the biggest remaining names available and he's garnering "significant interest," according to the team's general manager Don Maloney.
Michalek, 32, has been out of the Coyotes' lineup since Feb. 14 with an upper-body injury, but it's expected he will still be moved prior to 3 p.m. EST Monday.
"The injury does not help the process but I wouldn't say it hurts," Maloney told reporters on a conference call after the team traded Antoine Vermette to the Chicago Blackhawks Saturday night. "He's well on the road to recovery and there is significant interest in his services."
Michalek's contract, which expires at the conclusion of the season, comes with a $4-million cap hit.
In 53 games this season the Jindrichuv Hradec, Czech Republic native has two goals, six assists, 12 penalty minutes, 73 hits and 130 blocked shots.
