The National Hockey League Board of Governors will meet on Wednesday in New York to ratify the new collective bargaining agreement, Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos has learned.

Before the new CBA can officially come into effect, it must be ratified by a majority of the league's 30 owners and the NHLPA, comprised of approximately 740 players.

The 113-day lockout came to an end early on Sunday morning after a 16-hour negotiating session produced a tentative deal to a new CBA.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and NHLPA executive director Donald Fehr announced the agreement was signed after federal mediator Scot L. Beckenbaugh got the parties to return to the bargaining table.

The lockout was the second-longest in league history, behind only the last lockout, which wiped out the entire 2004-05 season.

A 48-game season will reportedly begin on Jan. 19.
