"Slow progress" appears to have been made in the latest negotiations between the NHL and its players union, NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly told the Star Tribune, according to ProHockeyTalk.com.
Saturday's negotiations extended into the evening as both sides try to end the 112-day lockout.
"We hope to continue meeting to resolve as many open issues as we possibly can in pursuit of an agreement," Daly added.
One of the biggest stumbling blocks in the nearly four-month long strike is the salary cap for the 2013-14 season. The NHL called for a $60 million cap, while the players sought a $67.5 cap. Both sides have since moved closer to a $64.3 million cap, which was the same amount of the cap in the 2011-12 season, according to The Sports Network of Canada.
Sportsnet of Canada estimated there are still as many as three major issues that need to be ironed out, including the variance of contracts.
