GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Forward Joe Pavelski had his fourth career hat trick and Barclay Goodrow broke a 2-2 tie 6:23 into the third period and the San Jose Sharks rallied from a 2-0 deficit for a 4-2 win against the Arizona Coyotes at Gila River Arena on Friday.
The win was the 300th as a head coach for Todd McLellan, who became the second-fastest coach in NHL history to get there.
Pavelski has nine goals in his past 11 games, and nine goals in his past seven games against the Coyotes.
The Sharks gave the Coyotes a 2-0 first period lead before Pavelski scored twice in the second period tie the game at 2-2. He added his team-leading 31st into an empty net with 1:26 remaining. Center Joe Thornton assisted on all three Pavelski goals, giving him 38 for the season.
McLellan reached the 300-win milestone in 515 games. Only Bruce Boudreau (496 games with the Washington Capitals and Anaheim Ducks) did it faster. The Sharks entered with three straight loses and were 1-3-2 in their past six but remained in second place in the Pacific Division with the win.
Forward Mark Arcobello, claimed on waivers Wednesday, scored in his Coyotes debut and Martin Erat added a power-play goal to give the Coyotes a 2-0 lead. San Jose goalie Antti Niemi held Arizona scoreless for the rest of the game, and added an assist on the game-winner. Since Dec. 22, the Sharks are 8-0-0 when allowing two goals or fewer.
Michael Stone grabbed a Mirco Mueller turnover and found Arcobello in stride at the blue line. He skated in and picked the far top corner over Niemi from the left face-off dot at 1:42. It was his ninth goal, which included stops with the Edmonton Oilers, Nashville Predators and Pittsburgh Penguins earlier this season.
After Arizona goalie Mike Smith stopped Patrick Marleau on a shorthanded partial breakaway, Keith Yandle smothered a San Jose clearing attempt and fed Sam Gagner behind the net. Gagner found Erat in the slot and fed him for a one-timer that beat Niemi over the glove.
Erat's eighth goal was the 16th allowed by San Jose in the past 10 periods and the 11th straight period in which they had allowed at least one goal.
San Jose needed 27 seconds in the second period to cut the Arizona lead in half. Pavelski's pass intended for Logan Couture at the far post caught the blade of Coyote defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson's stick and ricocheted up and past Smith.
Midway through the period, Stone and Ekman-Larsson took penalties 1:51 apart and San Jose capitalized against an Arizona penalty kill that had killed off 42 of the past 46 power plays.
Logan Couture found Pavelski to the left of the net and he snapped a shot under the crossbar at 13:09 for his 16th power-play goal.
It gave Pavelski back-to-back 30 goals seasons; he had a career-high 41 in 2013-14.
Goodrow took advantage of Arizona defenseman Andrew Campbell's failed hold in at the Sharks blue line and rushed in with Andrew Desjardins. Goodrow held the puck before his shot went between Smith's shoulder and the near post to give the Sharks a 3-2 lead.
