SHARKS (28-20-8) at COYOTES (20-28-7)

TV: CSN-CA, FS-A

Season series: The Arizona Coyotes and San Jose Sharks have each won a game in the other's building. Antoine Vermette had the only goal of the shootout when the Coyotes won 4-3 in San Jose on Nov. 22. Brenden Dillon scored 5:15 into the third period when the Sharks won 3-2 in Arizona on Jan. 13.

Sharks team scope: After getting swept on a three-game homestand (0-2-1), giving up 14 goals, San Jose tries to rebound on the road. The Sharks didn't practice Thursday following a 5-4 overtime loss to the Washington Capitals the night before. There was no immediate update on the status of defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic, who missed the homestand with an upper-body injury. Defenseman Brent Burns has three goals in the past two games. Forward Logan Couture has two goals and four assists during a four-game point streak. Couture's goal against the Capitals was his 20th of the season, making him one of seven players to have at least 20 in each of the past five seasons.

Coyotes team scope: Forward Mark Arcobello is set to make his Arizona debut after he was claimed off waivers Wednesday from the Pittsburgh Penguins. Arcobello, who centered Lucas Lessio and Sam Gagner at practice Thursday, started the season with the Edmonton Oilers and played for the Nashville Predators before joining the Penguins. He has eight goals and 15 points in 50 games. The Coyotes needed the depth with Martin Hanzal requiring back surgery and likely to miss the rest of the season. "I'm really comfortable playing center," Arcobello told the Coyotes website. "In a nutshell, I try to be a responsible two-way player that can chip in offensively at times." Center Joe Vitale (upper body) skated as an extra at practice Thursday, according to the Arizona Republic. The Coyotes lost forward Brandon McMillan off waivers to the Vancouver Canucks, and recalled forward Jordan Martinook and defenseman Brandon Gormley from Portland of the American Hockey League.
