The Philadelphia Flyers have acquired 5-11, 202 lb C Sam Gagner and a conditional 2016 or 2017 draft pick from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for D Nicklas Grossmann and the contract of D Chris Pronger, according to general manager Ron Hextall.
Gagner, 25 (8/10/1989), recently completed his eighth NHL season. In 81 games for the Coyotes in 2014-15, he recorded 15 goals and 26 assists for 41 points, along with 28 PIM.
He joined the Coyotes on June 29, 2014 after being traded twice in the same day – first from Edmonton to Tampa Bay in exchange for Teddy Purcell, and later on from Tampa Bay to Arizona with B.J. Crombeen in exchange for a 6th round pick in 2015.
Gagner spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Oilers, who selected him in the first round (sixth overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. In 562 career NHL games, Gagner has recorded 116 goals and 220 assists for 336 points, along with 272 PIM.
