{coyotes} NHL ties record; 8 games end in OT or shootout

 

There were eight NHL games Friday that ended in overtime or a shootout, tying a record set Feb. 22, 2007.

Here are the games and how they ended:

Flyers 3, Predators 2, OT: Shayne Gostisbehere scored a power-play goal with 52.0 seconds remaining in overtime in Philadelphia.

Blackhawks 3, Anaheim 2, OT: Artem Anisimov scored 1:53 into overtime after Chicago scored twice in the last 1:41 of the third period to tie in Anaheim.

Canadiens 3, Devils 2, SO: Sven Andrighetto scored in the fifth round of the shootout in a game Montreal trailed 2-0 in Newark, N.J.

Blue Jackets 2, Penguins 1, OT: Cam Atkinson scored with 2:18 remaining in overtime in Columbus.

Red Wings 4, Oilers 3, OT: Niklas Kronwall scored 26 seconds into overtime in Detroit.

Panthers 3, Islanders 2, SO: The teams set an NHL record by scoring on the first nine shootout attempts. Florida goalie Roberto Luongo made a pad save on Brock Nelson's wrist shot in the bottom of the fifth round to end the game in Sunrise. Fla.

Stars 3, Canucks 2, SO: Tyler Seguin scored the only goal in the shootout, after Vancouver's Henrik Sedin tied the game with 4:10 left in the third period in Dallas.

Coyotes 2, Flames 1, OT: Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored with 39.9 seconds left in overtime in Glendale, Ariz.

There were 12 games played Friday and on that Thursday eight years ago.
