Coyotes team scope
Arizona Coyotes defenseman Connor Murphy participated in the morning skate. He has missed the past two games because of an upper-body injury sustained during a 4-1 win against the Nashville Predators on Saturday. Coach Dave Tippett said he will be a game-time decision. The Coyotes are 1-1-0 through two games of their four-game road trip and are 4-9-3 away from Gila River Arena. Forward Peter Holland plays his first game in Toronto since he was acquired in a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Dec. 9. "He's got to go out and enjoy it and I'm sure he had some real good memories here and some that maybe didn't go so well," Tippett said. "He's come into our group and played well the first game. As a player, when you move on from a team you like to go back and get that game out of the way against them." Holland played 174 games in parts of four seasons with the Maple Leafs. "It was a dream come true [playing for the Maple Leafs]," Holland said. "I grew up a Toronto Maple Leafs fan. It was a lot of fun. I cherish it for sure. For the rest of my life I'll be able to say I was a Toronto Maple Leaf, so it was something very special." Forward Shane Doan's next goal will be his 400th in the NHL.
Maple Leafs team scope
Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews grew in Scottsdale, Arizona as a fan of the Coyotes, but he's looking forward to playing his first game against them Thursday. "It's always a lot of fun to play your hometown team," Matthews said. "A lot of great memories growing up watching the Coyotes play. Watching Shane Doan play growing up, he was one of my favorite players so it's going to be pretty fun to play against him tonight." Forward Leo Komarov will play in his 200th NHL game. "It's obviously nice to play 200," he said. "It was a big dream for me to play one game in this League." The Maple Leafs are looking for their first win during their five-game homestand; they're 0-1-1 in the first games.
