{coyotes} Shane Doan of Coyotes scores 400th NHL goal

Shane Doan scored his 400th NHL goal Friday in his 1,500th game.

The forward scored for the Arizona Coyotes with 44 seconds left in the second period against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Gila River Arena. He has four goals in 34 games this season.

"The [400th] goal means it took me a really long time because I've played a lot of games," Doan said this month. "You appreciate every time you get one of those milestones."

Doan has played all of his 21 NHL seasons with the Coyotes/Winnipeg Jets franchise. He is the 93rd NHL player to score 400, and the 17th to play 1,500 games.

The 40-year-old is the fifth NHL player from a current franchise to hold its records for games played, goals, assists, points, game-winning goals and power-play goals, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

"That just means you've been around a long time, that's all," Doan said. "Some guys do it in a few years. It's taken me a long, long time."

The others are Ron Francis (Hartford Whalers/Carolina Hurricanes), Joe Sakic (Quebec Nordiques/Colorado Avalanche), Rick Nash (Columbus Blue Jackets) and Mike Modano (Minnesota North Stars/Dallas Stars).
