Shane Doan had an assist Thursday to become the all-time leader for the Winnipeg Jets/Arizona Coyotes franchise.
The forward assisted on a goal by Max Domi at 7:23 of the first period against the Calgary Flames to reach 554, one more than forward Thomas Steen had playing for the first NHL iteration of Winnipeg from 1981-95. Doan has five assists this season.
Doan, who has played 1,492 games over 21 NHL seasons, is the Jets/Coyotes leader in goals (399) and points (953).
Doan is the fifth NHL player from a current franchise to hold its record for games played, goals, assists, points, game-winning goals and power-play goals, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
"That just means you've been around a long time, that's all," Doan said this week. "Some guys do it in a few years. It's taken me a long, long time."
The others are Ron Francis (Hartford Whalers/Carolina Hurricanes), Joe Sakic (Quebec Nordiques/Colorado Avalanche), Rick Nash (Columbus Blue Jackets) and Mike Modano (Minnesota North Stars/Dallas Stars).
