{coyotes} Coyotes’ Shane Doan would be willing to accept a trade

Shane Doan and the Arizona Coyotes go way back.

But if Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman is to be believed, the possibility is there that Doan could play for another team before the season ends.

"[The Coyotes] are looking at it like, 'You know, he's not going to be here forever, we have to see who else can be the leaders of the team, maybe we might have to move on but we want to put Shane Doan in a situation where he'd be happy,' " said Friedman during Saturday's Headlines segment on Hockey Night in Canada. "And I am under the impression that if they go to Shane Doan with a situation where they have a chance to win, he will be willing to consider waiving his no-trade clause.

"But they know their fans, and they know Doan aren't going to be happy unless it's a good situation for him."

Doan has spent his entire career with the Coyotes franchise, beginning with the original Winnipeg Jets in the 1995-96 season.

He is the team's all-time leader in games played (1,507), goals (400), assists (557), and many other categories.

The 40-year-old has four goals and 12 points this season, after signing a one-year contract with a base salary of $2.5 million worth around $5 million with bonuses this past July.
