The Montreal Canadiens are close to trading defenceman Jarred Tinordi to the Arizona Coyotes for forward John Scott and defenceman Stefan Elliott, according to TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie.
TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger says Elliott could be flipped to the Nashville Predators for defenceman Victor Bartley, but is being held up at the moment.
Scott, a 33-year-old enforcer, has one assist over 11 games this season with 25 penalty minutes. Fans voted Scott in as an All-Star captain earlier this month.
Elliott, 24, has two goals and four helpers over 19 games in Glendale this season, his first year with the Coyotes. Bartley, 27, has played just one game with the Preds this season and has 23 points over 112 career NHL games, all in Nashville.
The 23-year-old Tinordi has failed to record a point over three games in 2015-16 and has been a healthy scratch for most of this season. He has six assists over 46 career games, all with the Habs.
The Canadiens selected Tinordi with the 22nd overall pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
