NASHVILLE — John Scott, the fourth liner turned fan favorite during the movement that led to his selection as All-Star captain, can now add All-Star goal scorer to his magical weekend.

In fact, he scored twice for the Pacific Division.

For his first, Scott tucked in a pass at the crease from San Jose Sharks defenseman and friend Brent Burns to tie up the game against the Central Division at 1-1 during the first 10-minute period. Fans gave him a rousing cheer when he scored on hometown goalie Pekka Rinne. Scott celebrated like a seasoned goal scorer, dragging his hand on the ice and pumping his fist into the air.

Scott scored midway through the second 10-minute period via a feed from Burns that sprung him for a breakaway. He beat Minnesota Wild goalie Devan Dubnyk with a quick wrist shot to give the Pacific a 5-3 advantage.

The 6-8, 260-pound Scott didn't leave his physical game at home, either. At the end of the first period, he knocked down Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane. After Kane scored seconds later, he and Scott dropped the gloves for a pseudo fight.

Scott has had a whirlwind few weeks. Thanks to a Yahoo! podcast and Reddit campaign, Scott, he of five career goals in 285 games, was voted the Pacific Division captain. Scott, then a member of the Arizona Coyotes, was traded to the Montreal Canadiens and subsequently demoted to their American Hockey League affiliate in St. John's, Newfoundland.

The NHL did not immediately announce that Scott would still be allowed to participate. As his essay in The Players' Tribune said, Scott was pressured by the league to drop out. "Do you think this is something your kids would be proud of?" a league official asked him.

Scott has enjoyed the weekend, first drawing the largest crowd at NHL All-Star media day (and taking a photo of reporters surrounding him), then receiving an ovation during the skills competition and the loudest cheers outside of Predators players during player introductions.
