The airfield here was utilized by women training to pass the rigorous tests to be accepted into the Women's Airforce Service Pilots program in Sweetwater, Texas. Some lost their lives in learning. From there, they took their places in history among the world's first female fliers.

Driving along the I-10 freeway sunday toward LA I saw around 4 or 5 aircraft sitting in a remote sandy area just passed exit 17 for Quartzite. One of these was a Learjet and a US Army Beech (Travel Air)....has anbody out got any I/D's for all these aircraft and the US Army UH-1 on the Phoenix bound side of the I-10 which sits on top of an old truck!
Any help would be great!!
