Jim,
Thanks for sharing the updates. This is sad news. It would seem that AerSale could not find any operators to purchase or lease the aircraft for active service, and thus have perhaps made the decision to part-out and sell the scrap. AerSale at one time were advertising these aircraft on multiple sites.
Here is an old sales pamphlet just before the MD90s were purchased from Saudi. http://saudiamro.com/sales/MD90-30.pdf
As you can see, many aircraft were nowhere near needing a HMV. Not looking good that some of these birds have since lost their engines...
Please keep us in the loop with your knowledge.
Regards,
Rossi

Further to the Saudi MD90s, it appears that a number of these are currently being parted out. N195AS for sure in one photo and maybe one or two others behind N195AS. Others are just minus engines.
A selection of photos from Roswell including the Saudi MD90s can be seen at the page below, just scroll down page to locate them

Hi Paul
I have a scrapping date of 3/04 for N765BE at Roswell (I guess you mean this reg?). As mentioned earlier 16 ex Saudia MD90 have arrived at Roswell with one more heading across about now to make 17. That leaves 8 more to arrive, including old favourite HZ-APF...
The four Saudi MD90 not involved in the AerSale deal must be PWFU I guess. At least one unknown (?) Saudi MD90 has already been broken up in Saudia Arabia plus HZ-APW won't fly again either...
Cheers
Jim
Alot of these aircraft have flown some of the fleet still are, only put to rest past few months, maybe a year plus, think of the MHV or Marana aircraft they sit there for a very long time and then fly, the saudis have bottom less wallets so paying huge sums of money is nothing to them..hopefully they will come to Delta and see service, how many have arrive3d at Roswell, I am keen to know, not keen about the drive and flights from the UK but if I need them it might just happen, one more thing has anybody got a scrapping date on 365BE L1011 at ROS please it was my last one, I went to get it but alas it had gone or I was bling.. cheers for the info

My contact in Delta tells me that DAL rejected these aircraft, partly because of their condition – several had been sitting in the desert for years, partly because the FAA would not approve pilots being rated on these and standard MD-90's. The Saudia aircraft have a unique glass cockpit which also makes them useless for spares. Delta has rejected any thought of other spares recovery.
It is possible that Airbus took on the fleet as part of a purchase deal and, presumably, has sold them on to AerSale – which is who the aircraft listed below are registered to. From their condition, it will be a surprise if they all arrive ROW.

Stefan,
Delta has bought them and they will use them despite having glass cockpit.
Take care,
Rafal

Hi Dave (& All),
thanks to your update i have noted more and more (ex) Saudia MD90s sneaking into ROW.
Are the plans for these to go to the breakers, or will Delta Air Lines abosrb them (as so many other MD90s) ?
Regards
Stefan
