The National Hockey League appears closer to finding new owners for the Phoenix Coyotes.

Over the weekend, the NHL reportedly approved the sale for Canadian-led group to take over the Coyotes but the new deal was contingent on reaching a lease agreement with the city of Glendale.

According to Hockey Central insider John Shannon, the NHL and the potential new owners will meet with Glendale officials on Tuesday to discuss a new proposal for an arena lease.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, deputy commissioner Bill Daly and the prospective buyers are expected to be in attendance Tuesday.

The NHL purchased the Coyotes in 2009 after the team entered bankruptcy.
