Re: Our last meeting

I for one like the idea of meeting in the great outdoors. We live in an area with many places to see and enjoy only a short drive from our homes.  We have the mountains in the summer and local parks in the winter to set up our equipment and get on the air. Every outing we have had has been a learning experience for me.  There are always setup problems to solve, power options to figure out, rigs to get working, antennas to set up,something new every time. Maybe after we have mastered all of these skills I will lose interest in ham radio but until that happens, have antenna will travel.

There were only 3 of us this past meeting.  Of course there was some confusion on rooms.  Apparently the City of Mesa had us and another group meeting in the same room, so we had to move to a different room.  We discussed where we will be at this coming Field Day.  See our home page for more info on that info.

The other topic of discussion was maybe ending meetings, and just do Saturday meetings once a month in a park and actually getting on the air.  We can find different parks and different areas.

It seems that meetings might be something not everyone is interested in.  I am all for this idea anyways, because it's hard to find topics to find and teach about all the time.  It seems we keep talking about the same topics almost every other month.

So I would like to have some input from the members on what you think.

1. What topics should we discuss, and who is interested in leading the discussion?

2. Should we just meet on the weekends and get on the air instead?

3. Should we keep meeting every month or every other month during the weekdays?

4. I know Vinnie has indicated he wanted to get back to camping again.  What are your thoughts?
