STARS (37-15-6) at COYOTES (26-24-6)

TV: 9 p.m. ET; FS-SW, FS-A, NHL.TV

Season series:
The Dallas Stars won all three games against the Arizona Coyotes last season, outscoring them 13-4. Forwards
Tyler Seguin and Cody Eakin each had two goals and one assist for Dallas, and forwards Jamie Benn, Jason Spezza and Ales Hemsky each had one goal and two assists. Forward Antoine Roussel had three assists. Goalie Kari Lehtonen got all three victories, including one shutout. Defenseman Connor Murphy and forward Lauri Korpikoski each had a goal and an assist for Arizona.

Stars team scope: Dallas reassigned left wing Curtis McKenzie to Texas of the American Hockey League on Wednesday. The move could signal that center Jason Spezza is ready to be activated off injured reserve. Spezza has missed six games with an upper-body injury but has been practicing. This is the final game of a three-game road trip; the first two have gone to overtime, and the Stars won one and lost one. The Stars didn't seem to take a 2-1 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday too hard, despite a season-low 18 shots on goal and going 0-for-7 on the power play. "Our big boys struggled on the power play, but other than that, I liked our compete, I liked our attention to detail, I liked our penalty-killing," coach Lindy Ruff told the Dallas Morning News after the game. Dallas is 6-1-1 since the All-Star break.

Coyotes team scope: Forward
Martin Hanzal has scored in the past two games and three of the past four, following a 12-game drought. "When he's healthy, and feels good, he plays more minutes and has a bigger impact on the game, simple as that," Arizona coach Dave Tippett told the Coyotes website. "The goals he's scoring in front of the net are hard goals." Hanzal missed time with a lower-body injury. This is the second game of a three-game homestand, which will be followed by a five-game road trip that ends on the Feb. 29 NHL Trade Deadline. Arizona is 2-4-1 since the All-Star break but within range of the Colorado Avalanche and Nashville Predators, who hold the two wild cards into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference.
