Phoenix Coyotes goalie Mike Smith will start in goal in Game 3 against the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday, Coyotes' head coach Dave Tippett announced.
Smith was hurt in the second period of Phoenix's 4-3 overtime loss on Saturday when he was hit by the shoulder of Chicago's Andrew Shaw. Smith lay on the ice for several minutes but didn't miss any playing time.
Shaw was given a five-minute major penalty for charging and a game misconduct and the NHL suspended him on Tuesday for three games.
Phoenix centre Martin Hanzal, who left Game 2 with an upper body injury, is a gametime decision, while winger Lauri Korpikoski is out for Game 3.
The series is tied 1-1 with each of the first two games going to overtime. The series moves to Chicago for Game 3 and Game 4.
