This is a very important issue everyone. Please take some time, go to the ARRL website and read this article that is talking about this and please put your two cents in. This is a major deal, especially here in Arizona where if you live in an HOA, they can fine you and potentially take you to court and take your home if you get caught with an antenna and it's soemthing they restrict.
Arizona had a vote last year that said HOA's can restrict antennas and there is nothing we can do about that now, unless the FCC specifically puts it into it's PRB-1 document that says HOA's can't restrict them. The City, County and State can't restrict Hams at all now because of this document. Unfortunately they consider CC&R's as a private agreement that can restrict anything. Govenor Napolitano signed into law that stated that HOA's can't restrict Solar development. So it's about time the HOA's allow us to have our antennas.
I can understand someone complaining becuase you have a large number an antennas, or possibly someone wanting a 200 foot tower, but putting up a VHF or UHF antenna, or a small vertical I think is reasonable. There are plenty of antennas out there that will work and do a wonderful job, but I hate having to sneak around or try to find ways to bend the rules.
So if you live in an HOA and you have restrictions, then please speak up. If you don't live in an HOA, think about how many deveolpments around you have HOA's and try to place yourself in the shoes of the Hams that do live in them and speak up.
Typically Hams are not that political and our club tries to stay out of politics as much as possible, but since this is one that affects our hobby, I thought I would share and hope everyone will speak up.

Subject: [pr:12029] CCR issue and "would have been a ham" folks
To:
pr@arrl.org Please relay the following information to appropriate people....
If you know of people who would have become a radio amateur, but did NOT because CCR restrictions would not allow them to have antennas at home, we need to hear from them for the current FCC inquiry.
They do not have to be licensed nor ARRL members. But if they desired to become a ham but didn't because of CCR issues where they live, then they too should be included in the survey.
Please relay this on to appropriate outlets and people. Information is at http://www.arrl.org/ccr-study-information
and ask them to please fill out the form as best they can at http://www.arrl.org/ccr-regulations
