The Arizona Coyotes have avoided arbitration with Jack McBain, signing the centre to a two-year, $3.2-million deal on Sunday, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports.

The team originally filed for a two-year, $2.4-million deal, while McBain wanted one year at $2.25 million.

The Toronto native, 23, had 12 goals, 14 assists, and 26 points in 82 games in his rookie season last year for Arizona.

The Minnesota Wild picked McBain in the third round (63rd overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft before trading the Boston College product's rights to Arizona in 2022 for a second-round pick.

{coyotes} Coyotes 'can take that next step' this season, GM says

--

The Arizona Coyotes are preparing for the adventure of a lifetime.

They will play two preseason games against the Los Angeles Kings in Melbourne, Australia, as part of the 2023 NHL Global Series on Sept. 22 and 23. There will be jet lag and other adjustments for a 16,442-mile trip to and from a time zone 17 hours ahead of what they're used to.

General manager Bill Armstrong said the challenge presented in also a privilege.

"I believe the goodness of Australia is that we get to experience something that only one other team other than us gets to experience playing hockey over there," Armstrong said in a wide-ranging interview with NHL.com. "I think that's going to be a huge bonding thing for us as an organization. We're not going to be bonded by Christmastime, we're going to be bonded before our first (regular-season) game takes place. I think coaches yearn to have their natural team together and that gives an opportunity for our coach right away to work with our team right out of the get-go, so I think that's a big positive if we can fight off the jet lag and get our legs underneath us."

They should start training camp invigorated after trading for defenseman Sean Durzi and signing free agent forwards Alexander Kerfoot and Nick Bjugstad, and defenseman Troy Stecher. Matias Maccelli, a 22-year-old forward, signed a two-year contract July 17 after finishing fourth in voting for the 2023 Calder Trophy, given to the NHL rookie of the year. Logan Cooley , a 19-year-old forward selected with the No. 3 pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, signed a three-year, entry-level contract July 27. He joins a group of young players -- forwards Dylan Guenther (20), Josh Doan (21) and Conor Geekie (19), and defensemen J.J. Moser (23) and Maveric Lamoureux (19) -- chosen in the NHL Draft since Armstrong was hired by the Coyotes on Sept. 17, 2020, two seasons after winning the Stanley Cup as assistant GM of the Blues.

This season will be the second at Mullett Arena after the city of Glendale, Arizona, terminated the Coyotes' lease at Gila River Arena following the 2021-22 season. A public vote went against a proposed Tempe Sports and Entertainment district May 17, creating uncertainty about their future in the greater Phoenix area.

Armstrong spoke with NHL.com about the growth of the Coyotes, balancing development with competing to win, blocking out distractions and what sold the free agents on Arizona.

How have you and will continue to toe that line between developing and winning as many games as you can?

"I think the biggest thing is back when I first took over, my thought process was if you're going to win a championship, you have to build a championship front office. That starts with your amateur scouting. Then it goes into your coaching staff. Then it goes into your pro staff and then it goes into your development staff, people that you really need to be difference-makers behind the scenes, along with a lot of technology and pushing the pace to become a new wave organization. We believe in the most amount of information, the best analytics, the best sports science, the best strength staff, everything that we can do to gain an edge. I think the biggest misconception about the Coyotes is we're floundering with an arena. Guys that we acquired through free agency, I said, 'Listen, I don't build rinks. I build organizations and I build teams and we're trying to build a championship team here in the desert and here's what we can do for you to bring you in and make you a Coyote. This is the opportunity that's in front of you.' Players bought in.

"Everybody wants stability. That comes over time just with the fact of building chemistry with certain players. It's been a tough two years in the desert in terms of watching our team with the rebuild in place and taking bad contracts. Now it's getting to the good stuff. Listen, we're going to have some challenges. We're going have some moments we're not very good, but we've got an ability now to go to into the ring from the first day of training camp. Now we can take that next step. The next step for us is trying to play meaningful games the whole year and push to see how good we can become."

The Coyotes have done a very good job of blocking out distractions from the arena situation and future in Arizona. How do you think that resilience will benefit you, help stay in the now and achieve those goals of winning more games and clinching a Stanley Cup Playoff berth?

"It's living in the moment now. I think what people don't understand is probably when you're down here, it's a little bit easier to ignore the noise because of the simple fact that when you're in here, it's an all-hockey environment. You get locked into the team and you get locked into everybody's passion around the team starting with our coach, Andre Tourigny, and what he's done to help our culture down here. I think the players ignore the white noise because they're so dug into making themselves better and making the team better. They're involved in the process, and they're locked into becoming the best we can be down here."

Zucker, Kerfoot, Bjugstad, and Stecher are NHL veterans who chose to sign with the Coyotes, the latter two returning after they were traded away last season. What do you think sold them on the desert?

"I think it's a combination of everything. I think it's the excitement that they get from the energy from the organization, from the coaching staff. I think we practice different. We develop skills different. We warm up different than any other NHL team. The way that we do things behind the scenes and how much love we give to the players and making sure that they're at their peak, whether it's eating and our nutritionist, or our sports science guys, making sure that they know what they're eating, what time they need to be sleeping. It's a science behind the scenes, and I think that's spread throughout the NHL and that's why you can see guys wanting to come here. They see guys having success in the desert and they see the team taking the next step with a coaching staff that's changed our culture here. They get excited about that. That's why you see guys come back and that's why you see guys join us. They can feel the momentum slowly swinging and the amount of good young prospects that are being infused into this organization. There's an excitement around the Coyotes."

What do you like about Durzi's game that made it important to bring him to Arizona?

"He's going to be on our No. 1 power play. At times, he'd get the second unit in L.A., and we figured this guy can be a difference-maker and can play on our first-unit power play. He's also a volume puck-mover. Those guys are hard to find; he can move a puck and transition. We get excited about that. We feel there's still parts of his game that he can trim up to become an even better player defensively. There's the sure things that he'll buy into. We did our homework on what he's like as a person and a player, and we fell in love with the player and the person off the ice, so we were able to get a trade done for him and he's going be an impactful player for us this year."

Updating our Google Account inactivity policy

Every day Google works hard to keep you and your private information safe and secure by preventing unauthorized access to your Google Account with our built-in security protections. And keeping you safe means having strong privacy practices across our products that minimize how long we store your personal files and any data associated with them. We want to protect your private information and prevent any unauthorized access to your account even if you're no longer using our services.

Therefore, we are updating the inactivity period for a Google Account to two years across all our products and services. This change starts rolling out today and will apply to any Google Account that's been inactive, meaning it has not been signed into or used within a two-year period. An inactive account and any content in it will be eligible for deletion from December 1, 2023.

What this means for you:

  • These changes do not impact you unless you have been inactive in your Google Account for two years or have not used your account to sign in to any Google service for over two years.
  • While the changes go into effect today, the earliest we would enforce any account deletion would be December 2023.
  • If your account is considered inactive, we will send several reminder emails to both you and your recovery emails (if any have been provided) before we take any action or delete any account content. These reminder emails will go out at least 8 months before any action is taken on your account.
  • After a Google Account is deleted, the Gmail address for the deleted account cannot be used again when creating a new Google Account.

How to keep your account active?

The simplest way to keep a Google Account active is to sign in to the account at least once every two years. If you have signed in to your Google Account recently in the past two years, your account is considered active and will not be deleted.

Other ways to keep your account active include:

  • Reading or sending an email
  • Using Google Drive
  • Watching a YouTube video
  • Sharing a photo
  • Downloading an app
  • Using Google Search
  • Using Sign in with Google to sign in to a third-party app or service

There are some exceptions to this policy. Examples include: a Google Account with YouTube channels, videos or comments; an account that has a gift card with a monetary balance; or an account that has a published application, for example, one that hosts an app on the Google Play store. Other exceptions to this policy are available here.

Google also offers tools to help manage your Google Account and provide options to back up your data, including the ability to download your data using Google Takeout, and allowing you to plan for what happens to your data if you're inactive for a specific period of time with the Inactive Account Manager.

Our priority is to make it as easy as possible for you to keep your account active, if you want to, and we'll ensure you have adequate notice before any account is impacted by this change. So before an account is deleted, Google will send email notifications to the Google Account and its recovery email (if one has been provided). {coyotes} Zucker eager to be leader for Coyotes on, off ice

EDINA, Minn. -- Jason Zucker is only 31 years old but will be an elder statesman for the Arizona Coyotes this season.

The forward signed a one-year contract July 1 following three-plus seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Playing Wednesday at Da Beauty League, a 4-on-4 summer league for collegiate and NHL players with ties to Minnesota, Zucker said he's ready to help the younger Coyotes on and off the ice.

"It's a great young team, and kind of a new challenge for me being the oldest guy on the team," Zucker told NHL.com. "That will be a little bit weird, but it should be fun. I mean, it's a great problem to have when you have that many skilled, young guys that can come in and fill great roles and play an exciting brand of hockey. I'm excited.

"For me, it was a distinct role that they wanted to fill. I play a pretty simple game. I don't do anything crazy, fancy, and I think that's what they really liked about me. Hopefully I can add to some of that young talent and make the game easier for them."

Arizona's young core made another addition Thursday when Logan Cooley, the No. 3 pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, decided to leave the University of Minnesota after one season and sign a three-year, entry-level contract. The 19-year-old forward had 60 points (22 goals, 38 assists) in 39 games as a freshman last season, second in NCAA Division I to forward University of Michigan forward Adam Fantilli (65), who was the No. 3 pick by the Columbus Blue Jackets at the 2023 NHL Draft.

Cooley could join a young forward group that includes Conor Geekie (19), Josh Doan (21), and Jack McBain (23), who are expected to play important roles this season with the Coyotes, who will look to qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2019-20, when they lost to the Colorado Avalanche in the Western Conference First Round.

Zucker, a six-time 20-goal-scorer who had 48 points (27 goals, 21 assists) in 78 games last season, is expected to provide offense after the Coyotes averaged 2.74 goals per game last season (27th in NHL) and finished seventh in the Central Division (28-40-14). Zucker has 338 points (182 goals, 156 assists) in 628 regular-season games with the Penguins and Minnesota Wild, and 15 points (eight goals, seven assists) in 46 playoff games.

He joins forwards Nick Bjugstad and Alexander Kerfoot, and defenseman Troy Stecher after each also signed as an unrestricted free agent July 1 after Arizona acquired defenseman Sean Durzi in a trade with the Los Angeles Kings on June 24.

"It's going to be one of those things that I hope I can add value in anyway and just provide anything I can to the team and, hopefully, propel them into the playoffs," Zucker said.

The Coyotes will get a great chance to bond early in the preseason when they'll play the Kings on Sept. 23 and 24 in Melbourne, Australia, as part of the of the 2023 NHL Global Series.

Zucker is eager to get going.

"That's really what it's all about -- making sure everyone's excited to be there," Zucker said. "They've got so much young talent. It's going to be a really fun team to watch and be a part of. I can't wait."

{coyotes} Cooley signs with Coyotes, won't go back to University of Minnesota

--
banners Meal Ninja - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

Logan Cooley signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday.

The 19-year-old forward, who was selected No. 3 by the Coyotes in 2022 NHL Draft, had previously announced he would return to the University of Minnesota for his sophomore season.

"Something I had been thinking about all summer was just trying to figure out what the best fit was," Cooley said. "There were a ton of different factors. There wasn't a specific point where I was leaning one way or another. I kind of just took the pros and cons of both and ended up thinking going to the Coyotes was the best fit for me right now."

Cooley said he got advice from his agents and his family, as well as Coyotes forward Clayton Keller.

"There were definitely a lot of people I leaned on for support," he said. "There was a lot of discussion on what to do. There was a lot of talks over the summer. Took a while to see what the best fit was and going to the Coyotes was the best fit."

As a freshman at Minnesota last season, Cooley tied for the NCAA lead with 38 assists, and his 60 points were second behind University of Michigan freshman Adam Fantilli (65). His 1.54 points per game were third behind Fantilli (1.81) and Harvard University forward Sean Farrell (1.56).

Cooley also helped the United States finish third at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship, finishing with 14 points (seven goals, seven assists) in seven games, second to Canada forward Connor Bedard (23 points; nine goals, 14 assists). Bedard was selected No. 1 in the 2023 NHL Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks.

"We are thrilled to sign Logan to an NHL contract," Arizona general manager Bill Armstrong said. "Logan is an incredibly skilled player who had an excellent season with the Golden Gophers last year. He has established himself as one of the top prospects in the world. He is a very important player for us, and he has an extremely bright future ahead. We look forward to watching him play for the Coyotes for many years to come."

Cooley will join a team that this offseason signed free agent forwards Jason Zucker, Alexander Kerfoot and Nick Bjugstad and defenseman Troy Stecher, and acquired 24-year-old defenseman Sean Durzi in a trade with the Los Angeles Kings. The Coyotes also project to have forwards Barrett Hayton, 23, and Matias Maccelli, 22, in their top six. Maccelli signed a two-year contract July 17.

Cooley said the offseason additions helped in his decision-making process.

"You want to compete every day, you want to hopefully one day win the Stanley Cup," he said. "Adding those players was a step in the right direction. It's hard to pass up playing in the NHL, knowing how exciting it is to be a Coyote. It definitely played a factor and I'm happy to chip in a little bit here."

Cooley impressed during development camp in early July, and since then the Pittsburgh native has been skating with two other NHL forwards from his home area: Vincent Trocheck of the New York Rangers and J.T. Miller of the Vancouver Canucks. Cooley feels he's gotten stronger and more prepared for what he'll face in the NHL.

"[Cooley] is one of our best players," Armstrong told NHL.com on July 20. "He had some star quality moments in (development) camp for us like he had in Minnesota. He's got a game that's unique in the sense of his compete [level], his high energy and high skill. I have a feeling in my heart that he's ready to play in the National Hockey League."

{coyotes} Report: Logan Cooley may change mind, skip school and sign with Coyotes after all

Logan Cooley, the Arizona Coyotes' third-overall pick from 2022, is having second thoughts about returning to school for the coming season, according to a report by Craig Morgan of PHNX Sports.

At the end of May, Cooley said that the Coyotes' failed bid to build a new arena in Tempe had influenced his decision to return to University of Minnesota for another season.

Now, in a report confirmed by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the chances of the 19-year-old signing to play in the NHL this season are trending upward.

Cooley, who was born in Pittsburgh, is coming off a 60-point freshman season with the University of Minnesota that saw the Golden Gophers advance all the way to the National Championship final.

{coyotes} Coyotes looking to sign Tourigny to new contract

--
banners Meal Ninja - Rakuten.ca - Amazon.com - Swagbucks - MyPoints - DailyRewards

The Arizona Coyotes are interested in signing coach Andre Tourigny to a new contract.

The 49-year-old is in the final season of a three-year deal. He's 53-90-21 and guided the Coyotes (28-40-14) to three more wins and 13 more points last season than 2021-22.

"He's done Phase 1 very well," Coyotes general manager Bill Armstrong told NHL.com. "He has got the players to buy into what he's doing. He's got the players to buy into the culture and he's got the players to buy in to compete every single night here in the desert.

"Now we're entering Phase 2 with adding some good players into the mix and trying to play meaningful games. I think he's done a great job and now I believe we're going to be able to get an extension with him and move into the future, into Phase 2 with him. He's certainly somebody that's infused a tremendous amount of culture and belief in this organization."

No matter the status of his contract, Tourigny said it'll be business as usual for him this season.

"That doesn't change anything," Tourigny said, "The only way I can improve my situation is by doing what I have to do every day. If you focus on [it being a distraction], we're surely at the wrong place, so you need to focus on your task, focus on right now."

The Coyotes start the preseason with two games against the Los Angeles Kings in Melbourne, Australia, as part of the 2023 NHL Global Series on Sept. 22 and 23. The regular season begins on the East Coast, six of nine on the road, three straight at home and on the road again for five more. Their first extended homestand is five games from Nov. 28-Dec. 7.

Arizona continued its rebuild this offseason with veteran additions to complement a growing core. They acquired 24-year-old defenseman Sean Durzi in a trade with the Kings on June 24 for a second-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft. Forwards Jason Zucker (one year), Nick Bjugstad (two years) and Alexander Kerfoot (two years), and defenseman Troy Stecher (one year), signed free agent contracts July 1.

Zucker told NHL.com he's hoping for a long-term stay in Arizona. Bjugstad and Stecher chose to return after they were sent to the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames, respectively, before the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline. The common thread is Tourigny.

"He was definitely a part of that call, and he was great," Zucker said. "He was great to talk to. I've talked to him multiple times. He was very instrumental in that original pitch. When we talked, he seems like a great coach. Everyone that I've talked to absolutely loves him."

Coyotes captain Clayton Keller is signed through 2027-28 and had NHL career highs with 37 goals, 49 assists and 86 points in 82 games last season. Matias Maccelli, who was third on the Coyotes with 49 points (11 goals, 38 assists), signed a two-year contract July 17. The 22-year-old forward was fourth in voting for the 2022 Calder Trophy given to the NHL rookie of the year last season.

Maccelli said it's been fun going to the rink every day, part of the trust Tourigny has established in two seasons.

"When we did our research on him, I knew him from (junior hockey) pretty well," Armstrong said. "One of the things that I love about him and the reason that we have the ability to re-sign him and move into Phase 2 with him is because he doesn't leave a scar with the players. He has the players' best interests at heart and he's firm with the player. He motivates the player, but he doesn't leave a scar. I think they know that he likes them behind the scenes, and I think they feel that love and it enables him to get the most out of the player without leaving a scar."

The Coyotes have made the Stanley Cup Playoffs twice since 2011-12, a five-game loss to the Kings in the Western Conference Final. They lost the 2020 Western Conference First Round to the Colorado Avalanche following a four-game win against the Nashville Predators in the Stanley Cup Qualifiers.

"We want to play meaningful games," Tourigny said. "We want to improve our performance from last year. The only way we will do that is focusing on what can control and our performance daily and not looking ahead. When you lift your eyes to too high, you trip on the next obstacle. For us, it will be able to keep our eyes on the road."

Just be safe out there. If you venture out into the fields and see metallic debris sticking out of the ground , chances are it's part of an aircraft chopped up and buried . The weekends are the best times to access boneyards . Less people working there .
Las Vegas is only 1 hours away . Enjoy.
If you need info on any of the other boneyards , don't hesitate to hit me up , I sell stripped out airliners and cockpits and this is not a sales pitch , I'm the guy who can get you what you need for the man cave . We have 2 complete Article 41s from a 721-722 complete with nose gear .

Dave I have accessed the west side . It's best to drive over through the factories . As a note , the large building opposite the scrapping area is for sale at .15 cents a square foot . If anyone questions you ( no one will ) but if the do , tell them you are interested in buying the building and you are figuring out what you would need to drag aircraft back to the building . Now if you wish to venture outside , bring a 4wheel drive truck with at least 15"-18" of space between the ground and truck . No running boards permitted . You can drive the perimeter by the cow pasture , but you need to drive at a slow pace as rainwater run off causes " awash " which is a dried up river that is not marked . I buried a brand new Jeep Grand Cherokee back there , but you can drive through them if you know how to climb rocks and hills at slow speed . Over near the pump house in the west field is a good entrance to all of the CJs . Sometimes on weekends the scrapping area is left open . There is no security at all here . People still live on the N/E corner by the big tear down hangar .

Please wear a wide brimmed hat , long sleeves   Denim or Carhart pants for cacti contact , wear ankle high boots as Snakes and Scorpions live out there . 2 cases of water , buy sodium pills from CVS or Walmart , this will keep you from cramping up . Make sure the air filter in your vehicle is clean and sand free as you will burn more fuel as sand clogs it up . You will not be able to access the north scrapping area as it is sealed off with security and cameras . Stock up on supplies on Route 66/40 .

Be Advised :

If you run into kids in their cars  , move away and do not intereact with them at all , they are cooking methamphetamine in the trunks of their cars .

Hi Dave,
I've not been over the west side, so I don't know how the access is.
If you took a walk, you are in the desert. Take full precautions like sun screen, and take lots of water to make sure you are hydrated.
Also be aware of the local wildlife!

Hi all

Regarding Kingman ,  can you drive around the west side fence or does the ground condition make it safer to walk?

Many thanks

A log from CRJ and ERJ city Kingman.
Not all aircraft can be logged from the fence, but I estimate I logged around 80-90%.
Airside tours are not available anymore.

Best frames for me were the Emb190 prototype and the 737-200.
